‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’: Reasons to watch the Ayushmaan Khurrana and Bhoomi Pednekar film

With the success of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi,’ Ayushmann Khurrana is definitely at the height of popularity. Actress Bhoomi Pednekar too is enjoying some glory after her film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ became a big hit. Now, these two super talented actors are coming together to release their upcoming romantic comedy ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ which will hit the screens on September 1, 2017. The trailer of the film has been really well received and has made everyone highly anticipate the film. In case you have not jumped on the bandwagon, here are few reasons why you should.
2/6

Chemistry between lead actors

Both Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar have established themselves as seasoned actors individually. However, when the two share screen space something magical happens. This was evident in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. This will be the second movie together for the two actors, while reportedly a third one titled ‘Manmarziyan’ is also on the cards. It will be exciting to see if the two can recreate the magic on screen once again as they did for ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.
3/6

Innovative director R.S.Prasanna

Director R.S. Prasanna who is helming this film is foraying into Bollywood, but there is already a lot of promise in the man. He was the director of the Tamil film ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’ , which inspired 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan'. The film was a critical success when it came out in 2013, and apparently producer Aanand L Rai saw so much potential in the filmmaker, that he was ready to bankroll the remake. So it goes without saying that with such firm production backing him, there must be something unique about the filmmaker. It remains to be seen if he can make an impact with the film or not.
4/6

Tasteful depiction of a sensitive issue

‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ deals with the sensitive issue of erectile dysfunction and impotency. Of course, a topic like this can turn vulgar real fast but it looks like the makers have managed to still keep the movie family-friendly. From the trailer, it is clear that the focus is on the topic of erectile dysfunction and still it is dealt with in such a lighthearted and subtle manner that makes it very tasteful. It is amazing how the makers have managed to walk that fine line without becoming cheap or slapstick. Hopefully, the film will be as good as the trailer.
5/6

Super catchy dialogues

One of the biggest plus points for the movie are the dialogues, which is nothing short of a gold mine. Filled with innuendos and jokes, there are some really funny dialogues which were shown in the trailer. For example when Bhumi’s mother is talking with her about her first night, and says, “Aurat ka shareer rahasya ka khazana hota hai. Ek band gufa main rehta hai. Aur yeh gufa kab khulti hai pata hai? Suhaag raat wale din khulti hai, aur chalees chor ke liye nahi khulti sirf Ali baba ke liye khulti hai.” Or when Ayushmann’s dad hilariously says, “Woh mera launda hai, uska kuch bhi nanha sa nahi ho sakta.” Looks like the audience is in for a treat with such great dialogues.
6/6

Universal appeal

Director R.S. Prasanna disclosed recently that the topic of the film had a universal appeal so that it will be relevant in any language. Even when ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’ came out, he got some positive feedback from the Bollywood circle, the reason being the theme of the film which is relevant in all languages. All it took was a rewriting of the script to an Uttar Pradesh setting which maintained the original essence of the film. So overall, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ has its strength in its universal appeal which will give a wider audience for the makers.
