Is Aditya Chopra responsible for Shah Rukh Khan's 'Fan' disaster?

Though King Khan proved once again that his acting prowess has not diminished from any angle, 'Fan' has not been as successful as the superstar would have liked it to be. And it seems the onus of the film doing so poorly is not entirely on Shah Rukh Khan or Maneesh Sharma. There is one part of the puzzle which might prove why 'Fan' bombed despite rave critic reviews. According to a report on bollywoodlife.com, the head honcho of YRF, Aditya Chopra might be responsible, as a source claims that he changed the second part of the film which he wanted to be different from the first part. The report, however, also quoted a YRF spokesperson rubbishing the rumours. Though the movie did not enter the 100 crore club in its first week, 'Fan' still is a great movie where SRK weaves his magic once again.

Shah Rukh Khan's look in ‘Fan’ inspired by Brad Pitt

Shah Rukh Khan's latest release 'Fan' has been receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The superstar's performance has been touted as his best after a significant gap. While SRK won hearts with his double role, that of a superstar and his fan, Gaurav, not many are aware that his look is actually inspired by a Hollywood celeb, who happens to be none other than Brad Pitt. Yes! In a recently released video by YRF, Greg Cannom, the man behind Brad Pitt's look in the Hollywood flick 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,' said that Gaurav aka the fan's jawline was inspired by that of Brad Pitt's. Now that some interesting revelation!

Salman Khan does a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’

It’s been a while now that we have been hearing rumours of Shah Rukh Khan doing a cameo in Salman Khan’s upcoming film, ‘Sultan.’ While fans have been going gaga over this gossip, director Maneesh Sharma has gone ahead to do the unexpected and finally brought the two Khans together on the silver screen. Before you jump the gun here, let us shell out the details of this cameo… So there’s a scene set in Madame Tussauds Museum, London, where Gaurav, the fan, takes a trip to look at the statue of his super star, Aryan Khanna. Through the sequence we get an eyeful of Salman’s wax statue at the museum, naturally demanding our attention. Well, for fans who have been eager to catch the two Khans together, this sure must be some consolation.

While this comes as a surprise to us, there’s yet another fact about the film’s screening that we recently found out. Move on to find out what we’re talking about…

No permission for Shah Rukh Khan’s entourage to watch ‘Fan’

Aditya Chopra, who is all set for the release of his Shah Rukh Khan starrer, ‘Fan’ today on April 15, 2016, had hosted two special screenings of his film for a select few B-Towners. The filmmaker, however, had one rule, no uninvited guests at the screening to make sure the mystery around his film continues to be until it releases. And the rule wouldn’t change even for his lead actor, no matter if he’s the ruling King of Bollywood. According to a report on Spotboye.com, Adi had made the guest list himself and personally attended the gates at the screenings to make sure that no one without an invite is part of the screening, not even stars’ entourage. The report further stated that even Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard and other entourage were politely denied entry. A source was quoted saying in the same report that Adi wants to ensure that there are no leaks from the film before its release and made sure anyone who watched the film would not utter a word about the film.

Know the mastermind behind the concept of ‘Fan’

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ has been creating ripples ever since its first teaser came out. Apart from being an SRK film, the reason for this is its unique concept of a fan being a lookalike of the star he admires. But you would be surprised to know whose concept it was actually. It’s the late legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra. SRK was quoted by IANS saying, “Very few people know that the concept of ‘Fan’ was first narrated to me by Yashji about 10 years ago. While I was excited to explore the idea back then, for some reason it never happened. Today, I’m glad we could bring his idea to life.”

WATCH: Shah Rukh Khan mimmicks Deepika Padukone

For the promotion for his upcoming movie 'Fan,' SRK being the marketing maverick that he is, decided to interact with his fans on Twitter and invited them to send him special requests and went on to fulfill few of them. When one Tweetizen asked the actor to mimick his costar, SRK replied, "Mimicking a co-actor is oh-so-simple for @iamsrk! Challenge accepted & completed." The actor mimicked his co-star Deepika Padukone's famous 'ek chutki sindoor' dialogue from the movie 'Om Shaanti Om.’ Funnily enough, the camera moves down to SRK's waist while he imitates DP and in his trademark humour, SRK adds, "Deepika bohot lambi hai na toh kabhi kabhi frame ke baahar chali jaati hai."

What made Shah Rukh Khan dance with joy?

Shah Rukh Khan is busy promoting his upcoming film, ‘Fan,’ which is a hugely awaited. It seems that King Khan is super impressed with director Maneesh Sharma’s work in the film, so much so that he feels like dancing. This is what SRK recently tweeted, “I feel like this when I see what Maneesh has done with Red Chillies v/fx for Fan. Thx for making me look good guys…” Now, we just can’t wait to catch the film that is making Bollywood’s Baadshah dance with joy. The wait for April 15 just got longer!

Move on to the next slide to have a glimpse at the VFX work in ‘Fan,’ which made SRK chase himself...

Why is Shah Rukh Khan chasing himself?

There is no doubt that Shah Rukh Khan is one of the busiest actors in the world. Yes, in the world, apart from the second richest actor across the globe. There is so much the superstar does in a day that we can't even imagine. Film shoots, post production, planning marketing strategies, attending endless meetings, promotions, endorsements and philanthropy - the actor is a master at handling multiple roles with enviable ease. No wonder that the actor has very little time to be with his own self and has been chasing himself for a while now. SRK recently shared a still from his most anticipated film, 'Fan', with a tweet that read, "I hope I catch up with me one day….or not. But will keep trying. Ab Star Fan ke peeche bhaagega!!!” Although his tweet had a lot to do with the scene from 'Fan', there is an underlying isolation that the superstar seems to be going through in his life. We can surely understand his dilemma and hope that he gets to spend some time with himself!

For all those who have seen the trailers of 'Fan' can vouch that this one promises elephantine entertainment. Read on to know more about this blockbuster in the making...

WATCH: SRK dances with transgender band

Shah Rukh Khan loves his fans as much as his fans love him. This was evident when, in a first, the exclusive gates of Yash Raj Films Studio were opened to thousands of fans for the launch of the theatrical trailer of his upcoming release ‘Fan’. And while he was prepping for the launch in his greenroom, there was a knock at the door from some unexpected fans – India’s first Transgender Band called ‘The 6-Pack Band,’ which was launched by YRF’s youth wing, Y-Films. After knowing about SRK’s presence, the band members had put in a request to meet him, to give him their blessings along with a special message. SRK, as expected, was kind enough to not only oblige them, but also join them for an impromptu dance as they sang ‘Jabra Fan’ and one of their own original songs. But that’s not all. The Baadshah also hugged each one of them and wished them luck. Needless to say, the band members were over the moon.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Darr’ character to be recreated in ‘Fan’?

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ is keenly looked forward for its unique storyline of a fan being a lookalike of his most-loved star. But it seems there is another surprise in store for the cinegoers. As per a report on DNA, director Maneesh Sharma would be recreating SRK’s obsessive-psycho lover character of ‘Darr’ in the film. The report also mentions that the character of the fan would be showing a glimpse of SRK’s iconic character of the 1993 film. It would be interesting to see whether Shah Rukh would be stammering all over again, after 23 years.

...And it's a wrap

Shah Rukh Khan got a bit emotional as he wrapped up Maneesh Sharma’s Fan. The actor will be seen playing his own fan in the film. He tweeted, “Kinda wrap on Fan. Just being ordinary in an extraordinary attempt by this team leaves me a bit hollow. Why all good things end so fast??!” [sic] The teaser of Fan was released a few days ago and has received overwhelming response from the critics and audience alike. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film is slated to release on April 15, 2016. To promote the film, an online youth portal has recently tied up with Yash Raj Films to launch a merchandise range titled ‘The King Khan Collection’ featuring SRK’s most popular YRF dialogues. The collection has used dialogues like “Rahul… naam to suna hoga”, “Bade bade deshon me aisi chotti chotti baatein hoti rehti hain” and “K..k..k..k..k..Kiran” on T-shirts and boxers. The King Khan collection went live on the portal on August 13, 2015.

Let the promotions begin!

A while ago, the outer walls of Mannat were defaced by graffiti and reports of how even a celebrity house is not safe anymore, started doing the rounds. SRK took to Twitter to express his shock over the incident and wrote, "U can't leave ur house for a day without sum one messing with it!! Shocked." [sic] The walls of the actor's four-storeyed house in Bandra, were painted with messages that read, “love you SRK” and “c u on 15th.” The message was mysteriously signed by a certain Gaurav. However, after the teaser of Shah Rukh Khan's Fan released, the incident seemed less of an act of vandalism and more like a marketing gimmick. By 'c u on 15th', seems like the unidentified fan meant 'April 15, 2016,' which has been announced as the release date of the film. As the teaser ends, a cry goes out, “Aa gaya Gaurav”. What’s more? While teasers are usually first shared by stars or the director, this time it was a fan who shared the teaser which was then shared by SRK. Shah Rukh also tweeted, “And hope u all ‘feel’ yourselves as I play the one who makes a star. All who make me…I am your FAN.” [sic] So, will putting fans first be the marketing strategy for Fan?

SRK's 'ouch' moment

Shah Rukh Khan had suffered a hamstring injury while shooting for his next big flick, Fan. The actor had his leg covered with pink bandage tapes which gave the impression of pink leggings. Joking about the look, SRK tweeted, “A day comes in every macho mans life when he has to wear pink leggings & he hopes at least his daughter approves.” [sic] Shah Rukh Khan has had a history of injuries and it seems that the actor has again suffered one. While his shoulder has always posed a problem for the actor, this time the actor seems to have injured his hamstring. The actor was reportedly shooting for some high-octane action sequences for his upcoming film, Fan. Informing his fans about the injury, SRK tweeted, "Serious Ouch time! Hamstring shaken fortunately not stirred. Injections galore, running like a duck. Not that I don't like ducks but it sucks!"

According to a report on Pinkvilla.com, Greg Cannom, the multi-Oscar nominated artist, is doing Shah Rukh Khan's make-up in Maneesh Sharma's movie, Fan. Reportedly, Greg has visited Mumbai at least three times already to work out Shah Rukh's look. He has done several look tests on Shah Rukh so that his face and body language would be completely transformed, the report stated. Interestingly, Fan isn't Greg Cannom's first tryst in Bollywood as he had earlier done Priyanka Chopra's ageing make-up for Saat Khoon Maaf, concluded the report.

Waluscha, who has recently procured a divorce, now wants to pursue a full-fledged career in Bollywood.
