Shah Rukh Khan the woman stealer

Have you ever dreamed of a masked man on a white horse, who sweeps you off your feet and rides off with you into the sunset? Hold on tight, because the face behind that mask could just be the Baadshah of Bollywood, that is if you happen to be someone elses girl.

"Ja jeele apni zindagi ... Ja beta Ja," these are the very words that almost every girl dreams her father would say when Shahrukh Khan happens to be waiting for her on a departing train. If you haven't guessed yet, we speak of the famous film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge that released in 1995, where Kajol plays the role of Simran Singh, who is the daughter of Chaudhry Baldev Singh (Amrish Puri), a man of his words. It so happens that he had given his word to an old friend Ajit Singh (Satish Shah), that they would turn this dosti into rishdedari by getting their children married, but Simran falls in love with the typical bad boy: Raj (Shahrukh Khan). Initially Amrish Puri refuses to give his daughter's hand in marriage to Shahrukh Khan (SRK). But soon he agrees to let the two marry and poor Kuljeet (Parmeet Sethi), loses his mangetar to SRK.

It's all about the chase for King Khan, the women who love him he rejects and goes behind those he cant have. It’s true what they say, opposites do attract. A clear example would be the movie Dil To Pagal Hai. On one end we have Rahul (SRK) who doesn’t believe in love and who runs as far away from it as he can and on the other end we have Pooja (Madhuri Dixit) who loves the very thought of love and waits eagerly to be courted by the elusive one. Things get complicated for Rahul when he learns that his best friend Nisha (Karishma Kapoor) is scretely in love with him, but (there is always a but), he doesn’t love her back. Soon enough he finds himself falling for Pooja, who in turn has the same feelings for him, but has already said yes to Ajay’s (Akshay Kumar) proposal for marriage. But as we’ve already established, nothing can stop King Khan from getting what he wants or rather who he wants and this time he wanted Pooja, and so he got Pooja.

“Main ek Hindustani hoon, aur main jaanta hoon ki ek Hindustani ladki ki izzat kya hoti hai.” SRK strikes yet again and this time he has to protect his mehbooba from her own fiancè. In the movie Pardes; SRK plays the role of Arjun Saagar, a musician who waits for his mehbooba while he lives in the shadow of Rajiv (Apurva Agnihotri), his best friend. He plays a crucial role in bringing Ganga (Mahima Chaudry) and Rajiv together. But as luck will have it, they are not meant to be together. But since King Khan had already mastered the art of adverse possession in his previous movies, it was rather easy for him to get rid of the fiancè and marry his Ganga.

Actions speak louder than words, mute Shankar (SRK) proves this statement right when he takes off with Gauri (Madhuri Dixit) in Koyla, a 1997 film. In this movie, the chanchal Gauri is made to believe that she is to wed Shankar, a wealthy young man, but it turns out that he is only a slave in the house of the devious Raja Saab (Amrish Puri). Unaware of Raja Saab's doings, Shankar tries to get to the bottom of the mystery at hand and in the process, he wins Gauri's heart and there we have it! King Khan takes off with Amrish Puri's wife this time.

Since we’re on the topic of wives, another movie that comes to mind would be Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. This movie analyses the subject of adultery. Dev Saran (SRK) is married to Riya Saran (Preity Zinta) but his relationship with his wife is on the rocks because he is constantly made to feel inferior and insufficient. It is during this time that he hits it off with Maya Talwar (Rani Mukherjee), who at that time is married to Rishi Talwar, but she is also in an unhappy relationship. The two of them decide to help each other mend their relationship with their spouses, but fail to do so because of the increasing attraction between them.

So husbands hold on to your wives and guys get a grip on your girls because even the biggest rock on your woman's finger won't drive him away. He is not only the Baadshah of Bollywood but also the king of our hearts: that's SRK for you!
