SRK conjured up a frenzy with his ‘Lungi dance’ in Edinburgh


Shah Rukh Khan received an honorary doctorate from the United Kingdom's University of Edinburgh on October 15, 2015 for his philanthropic work. After accepting the honour, SRK gave a rousing speech about life lessons, with examples from the plots of his movies. After his speech, SRK asked the professors sitting in the first row to join him for the ‘Lungi dance’ from his film, Chennai Express, where the actor was joined on stage by Dance Ihayami - a dance company from Scotland.

SRK is a doctor all over again

The baadshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, has been conferred with a second honorary doctorate, this time from the University of Edinburgh. SRK also has an honorary doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire. Happily posing with his degree, the superstar took to Facebook to share his joy. He wrote, “I am a Doctor all over again…yay!! Her Royal Highness & Prof. Jeffery & Smith & all your colleagues, thank you for the Degree of Doctor Honoris Causa.” Sharing the picture with his fans, SRK wrote, "I am a Doctor all over again…yay!!"

Shah Rukh Khan is a global name today and the baadshah of Bollywood has been honoured with the 'Legion of France', one of the country's highest civilian awards. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has presented the award to Khan. After Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh is the second Bollywood personality to receive it. The award is conferred for excellent civil or military conduct. SRK has once again proved that he is a truly iconic and an exemplary actor who has won over the audience, not only in India, but also internationally. Shah Rukh Khan has won many National Awards including the Best Indian Citizen Award (1997), Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence in the Field of Entertainment (in 2002), the Padma Shri which is India's fourth highest civilian award from the Government of India ( in 2005). He is also among the 10 recipients of the IIFA-FICCI Frames Awards for the "Most Powerful Entertainer of the Decade and the Global Entertainment and Media personality Award at FICCI Frames 2010 Excellence awards (2010).

Shahrukh Khan has been a favourite at the Filmfare Awards that are held annually in Mumbai. From hosting them to walking away with the black lady, SRK perhaps has more Filmfare awards than his contemporaries. Shahrukh won his first Filmfare way back in 1993 for Best New Comer and has continued the tradition over the years. Films like My Name Is Khan, Chak De! India, Swades: We, the People, Devdas brought him great acclaim and the badshah walked away with the coveted title.
