Shah Rukh Khan reveals who are his 2 am, 5 am and 7 am friends

Shah Rukh Khan is leaving no stone unturned in promoting his latest release 'Zero', despite the film getting mixed critical reviews. The actor is exploring every available platform to promote his movie, including media interactions and interviews. In one of the candid interviews, SRK was asked some interesting questions and the actor did not shy away from giving some fun answers. While, Shah Rukh has revealed for years that he doesn’t sleep much and at times barely, what we didn’t know was the names of his late night friends. He has one, who he calls at 2 am, one at 5 am and one he plays with one at 7 am.


The three friends are none other than his three children – Suhana, Aryan and AbRam. “Because she is studying in London, the time difference is perfect – my daughter Suhana is my 2 am friend. At 5 am, I end up speaking to my son, Aryan, who’s in Los Angeles, California in the US and finally, at 7 am, I play with AbRam. Because I don’t get sleep, I need a lot of friends at night and my three children fulfill that role,” Shah Rukh Khan told Radio Mirchi in an interview.

​Shah Rukh Khan's grandfather built Mangalore port

Shah Rukh Khan’s grandfather, Jan Muhammad was from Afghanistan while his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, was from Mangalore and he served in Mangalore as the chief engineer of the port which was in the year 1960. Shah RukhKhan also tweeted about his connection with Mangalore and his grandfather who has a huge share in building the Mangalore port. Shah Rukh Khan's cousin, who stays in Peshawar, Maqsood Ahmed, claims that the family is actually of Hindkowan origin. SRK is also a strong believer of Muslim, he also respects other religions.

​SRK's father was a prominent ‘Quit India movement’ activist

Mir Taj Mohammed Khan was a Pathan from Peshawar (which is in Pakistan) Shah Rukh calls him a ‘gentle giant’. He was an Indian freedom fighter, who became a part of ‘Frontier Gandhi’ Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan’s movement and had even fought the elections against another national icon, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and lost. He was the youngest freedom fighter then and as a sixteen year, he had left his home to walk to Kashmir, India. He came to New Delhi from Peshawar before the 1947 Partition happened of our sub-continent. Shah Rukh Khan’s paternal grandfather was an Afghani. Mir Taj Mohammed Khan was a highly educated man who was an MA, LLB and was fluent in six languages including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Pushtu, Sanskrit and Persian. A gentleman with a great sense of humour who had charm and elegance, he treated Shah Rukh as an individual in his own right and as a friend.

Shah Rukh Khan was adopted by his 'naani'

It might come as a surprise but Shah Rukh Khan was adopted by his grandmother and he stayed with her in Mangalore for almost five years after which he stayed with his parents. In fact, the famous name Shah Rukh Khan by which the nation knows the star is not his original name. His first name was ‘Abdul Rahman’ given by his Naani. However, the name wasn’t officially registered and his father named him ‘Shah Rukh Khan’ instead. SRK wanted to join the army and even went to an Army school, however, life had other plans for him.

​ Shah Rukh Khan's mother was the daughter of an Oxford-educated Chief Engineer

Shah Rukh Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima was an Andhraite residing in Karnataka and was the eldest of four sisters. She was the daughter of Iftikhar Ahmed who was an Oxford-educated Chief Engineer of Mangalore Port and had designed and built the Mangalore Port. We can say that Shah Rukh's family has a huge share of contribution in erecting Mangalore port, isn't it?. Moreover, she was fluent in all the four South Indian languages. His mother was almost ten years younger than his father.

Shah Rukh Khan and kids

Shah Rukh is undoubtedly a doting dad to his three darling kids. SRK’s youngest son was named ‘AbRam’ as a portmanteau word made from ‘Ram’ and ‘Ibrahim’. Since they’re a Hindu-Muslim family, they want their kids to grow up without any difference of opinion in the name. As said above. SRK and Gauri follow both the religions and respect each other. SRK’s daughter ‘Suhana Khan’ is a huge fan of Ex-One Direction member Zayn Malik and that is the reason why Shah Rukh in the world took a selfie with the man when he met him at the Asian Awards. The picture was then seen making rounds on the internet for a long time.
