Raj Thackeray calls Salman Khan a man without brains

Salman Khan had faced enough brickbats with his tweet about Yakub Memon. And now even good friend Raj Thackeray is not in support of the actor with respect to the tweets. According to a report on Bollywoodlife.com, at a recent event, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief, Raj Thackeray, slammed Salman for commenting in favour of Yakub Memon. Thackeray said that Salman is a man without brains, while his father is a respectable man. He also added that the actor does not read newspapers and does not know the law, and thus went on tweeting in Yakub's favour.

Pulkit Samrat: Salman Khan was was misinterpreted for whatever he wrote

Pulkit Samrat, who is married to Salman Khan's rakhi sister, Shweta Rohira, says that the superstar's tweets on 1993 Mumbai blast convict Yakub Menon were "misinterpreted" by people. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan star posted a series of tweets suggesting that Yakub is innocent and should not be hanged for the acts of his brother, Tiger Memon. However, later Salman deleted the tweets and apologised on Twitter. According to a PTI report, Pulkit, who has shared screen space with Salman in Jai Ho, said the star did not write anything against the judicial system of our country. "He made his stand very clear when people started thinking otherwise.. He was misinterpreted for whatever he wrote... And I think at that moment when people are not understanding what a person is saying, it's always good to retract your statement and I think that's what he did. But he made it very clear that this is what he meant and it wasn't about being against the judiciary because he has faith in the system. I think what he meant was that if somebody else was getting hanged for the sin done by somebody else, give him an another trial and listen to his plea and just make sure you are not hanging an innocent," reasoned the actor.

Salman Khan booked for defending Yakub Memon?

Salman Khan’s controversial remarks on Yakub Memon’s hanging on July 30 on Twitter invited a nationwide protest against the actor. He had even apologized for the misunderstanding created due to the same. But a case has been lodged against Salman and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for giving out objectionable statements regarding the death penalty of Yakub Memon, reports Bollywoodlife.com. The complaint has been filed under the section 124A (sedition) and others of Indian Penal Code, the report stated. The lawyer, Sushil Kumar Mishra, who filed the petition said that they are anti-nationals as they defended a person who has already been awarded the death penalty by the court, the report concluded.

Salman deletes pro-Yakub tweets; apologises

After tweeting in support of the 1993 blast convict, Yakub Memon, Salman had to face a barrage of opposition. The actor, then, deleted the tweets in question. He also posted tweets clarifying his stand. He tweeted, "I had tweeted that Tiger Memon should hang for his crimes and I stand by it. What i also said is that Yakub Memon should not hang for him. I have not said or implied that Yakub Memon is innocent. I have complete faith in the judicial system of our country. Many lives were lost in the Mumbai blasts. And I have repeatedly said the loss of one innocent life is equal to the loss of all humanity. My dad called & said I should retract my tweets as they have the potential to create misunderstanding. I here by retract them. I would like to unconditionally apologise for any misunderstanding I may have created unintentionally. I also strongly condemn those who are claiming my tweets are anti religious. I have always said I respect all faiths and I always will." [sic]

While Salman has gone all out and spoken his mind on the Yakub Memon hanging case, not everyone is quite happy with his retort. Apparently, the actor's father, too, is not at all happy with tweets. The actor’s father has slammed his son and called his tweets meaningless. One of Salman’s fanclubs posted his father’s reaction to his tweets on Yakub Memon. It said, ”Salman Khan’s Tweets r Riciculous & Meaningless. Those Tweets Shouldn’t be Taken Seriously. Salman Should Focus On his Films.” The Bhartiya Janta Party, too, collectively, feels that Salman is way out of line here and wants Khan to retract his comments on the issue. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, even went on to say, “Is he questioning the court? Is he saying the court is wrong?” Public prosecutor in the 1993 bomb blasts case, Ujjwal Nikam, has been quoted in a report as saying that, ”His statement directly amount to contempt to court. The impression created amongst his followers is that Yakub is innocent. What proof does Salman Khan have?” Nikam even went on to state that Salman might have some knowledge about Tiger Memon’s whereabouts. “In the first set of tweets, he appealed Pakistan to hand over Tiger. While I welcome his appeal, this also means that he is aware of his location. The country is known for its belief on judiciary and Khan’s statement has questioned it.”

In a series of tweets, Salman has pleaded and questioned the government about humanity and punishing Yakub instead of his brother. Salman tweeted, "Get tiger hang him. Parade him not his brother." He further tweeted, "1 innocent man killed is killing the humanity."

In a series of tweets, Salman Khan has openly said that it is unfair to kill Yakub Memon. "Kaun sa tiger kaisa tiger kidhar hai tiger. Samaj raha hai tiger. Kay soch k nam diya tha aur kya maina nikal liya uus ka," Salman tweeted.
