Here it is, the first glimpse of Ranveer Singh in action as cricket legend Kapil Dev. After impressing all with his first look poster, the actor and the makers of the upcoming biopic ’83, shared a first still of the star nailing one of Kapil’s most iconic shots – the Natraj shot.
Donning a curly hairdo with a moustache and team India’s white World Cup uniform, the picture goes to show director Kabir Khan’s eye for detail.
“The match that was never televised... a world record innings that India never saw... this April the world will see how history was made on that cold windy day in Tunbridge Wells...” director Khan captioned the first still photo on Instagram.
The film that aims at recreating India’s first World Cup win in 1983, will reportedly have some never before televised segments while also giving us a look into the famed cricketer’s personal life. Sidharth Malhotra will soon be back in uniform to take on the role of Kargil War hero Vikram Batra, in the upcoming biopic ‘Shershaah’. With filming currently underway, the hunk shared a photo of himself locked, loaded and ready to fire as he heads into the warzone.
Taking to his Instagram stories, the actor shared a photo that saw him in his military camouflage uniform with a helmet on his head. According to reports, the film will be based on the life of the Indian Army captain who was honoured with the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery in the 1999 Kargil War. He reportedly led one of the toughest operations in mountain warfare in Indian history.
For the film, Sidharth reportedly began rigorous training for his role and the film that is being shot across Chandigarh, Palampur, Kashmir and Ladakh. Speaking about his role, Sidharth said in an interview that this is the “toughest role” of his life and no amount of training could prepare him to play such a complex character.
Also starring Kiara Advani, the film is slated to releases in 2020.

Speaking about working with Vidya Balan, Sanya released a statement that read, ‘I am very excited to play the iconic Shakuntala Devi's daughter - Anupama Banerji. Everyone knows the achievements of the Math genius Shakuntala Devi. I'm thrilled to bring onscreen this dynamic mother-daughter relationship and equally thrilled to work with Vidya Balan.’
Sanya will reportedly be essaying the role of Vidya’s daughter Anupama Banerji in the film.
The film is being directed by Anu Menon and will hit the theatres in Summer 2020.
‘Kargil Girl’: Janhvi Kapoor heads to Georgia to shoot for Gunjan Saxena biopic
Janhvi Kapoor is one starlet who has been in hot demand. All of one-film-old, Janhvi already has five films in her kitty, ranging from period dramas to rom-coms. One among her interesting lineup of films, is ‘Kargil Girl’ - a biopic on Indian Air Force Pilot Gunjan Saxena, one of the first women combat aviators who entered the war zone in 1999.
The actress and her team have touched down in Agara, Georgia to begin work on the film that also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi. Taking to her Instagram handle, the actress shared a few photos, one of which was captioned “Agra to Agara.”

The film chronicles the life story of the Indian mathematician’s journey from tutoring rich children in a top coaching centre to opening an institute of his own in order to teach the underprivileged children and encourage them to achieve the impossible.

‘Shershaah’: Vikram Batra biopic starring Sidharth Malhotra to go on floors soon
Bollywood hunk Sidharth Malhotra will be back in uniform to take on the role of Kargil War hero Vikram Batra, in the upcoming biopic ‘Shershaah’.
Producer Karan Johar took to social media to make the official announcement saying, “Beginning the journey of #Shershaah soon!”

Now, according to the latest report, one more biopic is on the cards. A film based on the life of P. T. Usha is in the works and it is being said that Katrina Kaif has been offered to play the role.
The film will be helmed by Revathy S Varma who has directed Tamil and Malayalam films along with a Bollywood movie.
Reportedly, the film will be out in different languages and will cover all the phases of life of the athlete.
Katrina and the director are in talks for the movie. Also, Revathy was in Mumbai just for the narration. The report further stated that the actress liked the script and probably will get on board for it.
However, as she is currently working on 'Sooryavanshi' she is figuring out her timeline.
A R Rahman will be composing the music for the film.

Varun Dhawan who is all set for the release of his multistarrer film 'Kalank' is reportedly being approached for a film on the youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal.
According to the report, the film will be helmed by Sriram Raghavan who also directed Varun in 'Badlapur'. The film is titled as 'Ekkis' and currently, Raghavan is completing the script of the film.
The film will be backed by Dinesh Vijan. Varun has been snapped outside Dinesh's office several times due to which reports of Varun replacing Rajkummar Rao in 'Stree' sequel surfaced. However, Varun is being considered for this film and for the sequel of 'Stree'.
For the uninitiated, Arun Khetarpal fought during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Ever since the makers of an upcoming biopic on Udham Singh have announced Vicky Kaushal as their lead actor, various speculations regarding its female lead and other castings have been doing the rounds. Reports were also rife that Sara Ali Khan was approached for the female lead, however, she apparently turned down the offer.
Now, the producer of the film, Ronnie Lahiri has issued a statement rubbishing all such reports and speculations. The statement reads, ‘There is a rumour doing the rounds about the casting of our film, Udham Singh. The only actor on board the project currently is Vicky Kaushal who will play the lead. The Udham Singh biopic is being helmed by Shoojit Sircar and will feature Vicky in the lead role as the freedom fighter. Udham Singh had killed Michael O’Dwyer, former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab of British India to avenge the ruthless massacre of the Sikhs in Jallianwala Bagh in 1919.

Deepika Padukone’s first movie as producer ‘Chhapaak’ is scheduled to start rolling from next month. Currently, the actress is prepping up for her lead role as Laxmi Aggarwal, the real-life acid attack survivor.

She has also looked into every photograph or video of Laxmi available online to get into the skin of the character. According to the reports, Amit will be helming a sports biopic which will feature Ajay Devgn in the lead role. Reportedly, the film will put the limelight on the golden era of Indian football between 1951 and 1962 and Ajay will be seen portraying the character of Syed Abdul Rahim who was a coach and manager of the Indian national football team.
During a media interaction, he said that the film will go on floors in May or June this year. He added that people are watching such stories and the box office numbers are also good.

Ranveer Singh and team '83' to head to Mohali for training
The shoot of ‘83’ is scheduled to go on the floors in May. Before the camera finally starts rolling, director Kabir Khan and lead actor Ranveer Singh have planned to leave no stone unturned for getting the entire cast ready and familiar with the sport. As a step in the same direction, reportedly, Khan has lined up a fortnight-long cricket camp in Mohali in April.
The reports have it that the camp will have the cricketers from the winning squad - Kapil Dev, Madan Lal and Yaspal Sharma, along with Ranji Trophy players. Also, the co-producer of the film, Vishnu Induri has reportedly said that on one hand where Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Yash Sharma and other players from 1983 World Cup will help the cast of ‘83’ with their techniques and inputs, on the other, the actors will also get an opportunity to play with the present day cricket team from all over India.
The buzz also has that before the training camp, there will be a meet and greet session for the cast in the last week of February.

Since the film is yet to go on floors, Harshvardhan opened up about his next and this is what he has to say about the delay in the shoot.
When asked about the film, the actor reportedly said that good things always take time to brew. They are quite some time away from having a screenplay, which makes them unanimously feel that the film can now be made, said the actor. He adds that the change of hands too have taken a fair amount of time — while Vishal Bhardwaj was to initially produce it along with an established studio, Anil Kapoor's production house took complete charge of the project in late 2016.
The actor admitted that he read the book on Abhinav Bindra twice and made notes for the writers. When he was asked whether staying away from the big screen for such a long time can be risky, to which the star replied saying that he always did things at his pace and revealed that he has signed three films but he can't talk about them yet.
The actor was last seen in 2016 film 'Mirzya' along with Saiyami Kher.

Vivek Oberoi will soon be seen starring in filmmaker Omung Kumar’s next, a biopic ‘PM Narendra Modi’, based on the life of the 14th and current Prime Minister of India. The film's poster, which was unveiled a few days back, received a mixed response, with many questioning the agenda behind the film and others anticipating what its story will hold for them. Rumours of the film being made to “glorify” the PM have also been doing the rounds.
However, the film’s producer, Sandip Ssingh has now come forward to rubbish these claims, saying that the film will have a great substance and a story worth telling. Pointing out Modi’s ascend from a chaiwala to becoming the PM of a country, he said that the biopic is “an inspiring film, it needs to be told.”
He also denied that the biopic has anything to do with the current political wave in cinema.

Responding to the conjectures surrounding the release date of the film, Nawazuddin reportedly said that unlike what people are saying, the film and Balasaheb Thackeray does not need any sort of propaganda. The film is releasing on January 25 on occasion of his birthday. According to the actor, if the film were to be released in any other year, the response wouldn’t be different.
Nawaz also added that Bal Thackeray was already a controversial man and there is no scope of whitewashing for him or playing neutral with him. The only right approach is to show him the way he was.

The latest development is that actor Vivek Oberoi will be starring in the biopic and is most likely to essay the role of PM Modi in the film.
The biopic's poster will be revealed on January 7.
According to a report in Mid-Day, the makers of the film have planned to release the posters of the film on January 7 in 23 languages and may rope in Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to attend the launch. The event is scheduled to take place at the Garware Club House in South Mumbai. A source told mid-day that Sandeep Ssingh and Vivek came up with the idea of roping in the CM for the unveiling. When the makers approached him, the CM readily agreed.

Amid festive season, the makers of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s next autobiographical ‘Thackarey’ are all set to launch the trailer tomorrow.
The film is based on the life of Bal Thackarey, one of most renowned cartoonists in the world of his times and founder of the Indian political party Shiv Sena. On Sunday, Nawaz took to his Twitter and shared his excitement for the trailer to be out.
With his strong resemblance and a similar body language as Bal Thackarey, Nawaz surely holds promise for thrill and entertainment in the trailer.

Shah Rukh Khan has dedicated 2 years of his career for the movie and the actor didn't announce any new project during this tenure. However, reports suggested that King Khan would be doing the biopic of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma titled 'Saare Jahaan Se Achcha'. The makers of the film had confirmed the news but we were yet to receive any nod from the actor's side.
Recently during an interview, SRK opened up about his upcoming biopic on Rakesh Sharma. The actor revealed that just like Milkha Singh and Sunil Gavaskar, Rakesh Sharma was also one of his biggest heroes during his growing up days. Shah Rukh confirmed that he will be eventually doing 'Saare Jahaan Se Achcha' but the timing has not yet been decided. SRK said he will announce the film with the whole cast and crew once decided.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Rakesh Sharma’ biopic to go on floors in May 2019?
Shah Rukh Khan has been keeping busy all of 2018 with his ambitious project ‘Zero’. With the film now set for release in a few weeks, King Khan is reportedly set to move on to his next, a biopic on Astronaut Rakesh Sharma. The film tentatively titled ‘Salute’ has long been in the headlines and according to latest reports, it is set to go on floors next year.
Reports state that SRK will begin prep for the film in February 2019 and has blocked his calendar from May 2019 which is when the cameras are expected to start rolling.
Directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Ronnie Screwwala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, the film will reportedly chronicle the astronaut's journey and the time former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi asked him how India looked from outer space, to which, he replied, “Saare Jahan Se Achcha.”
Interestingly, SRK's 'Zero' is also touted to have a space connect.
Janhvi Kapoor to start prepping for Gunjan Saxena biopic
The ‘Dhadak’ fame actress Janhvi Kapoor is all set to get into the shoes of the character of Gunjan Saxena for the untitled project bankrolled by Karan Johar. The movie is a biopic on Gunjan Saxena, who is one of India’s first female combat aviators to be posted in 1999 Kargil war.
Reportedly, Janhvi Kapoor will soon be taking basic flying lessons. At the same time, she will try to get her hands on the sessions that will help her understand how Indian Air Force works and lives. Shraddha Kapoor starrer Saina Nehwal biopic's budget to be cut down?
Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal's upcoming biopic is the most anticipated films that will feature next in Bollywood. They are reportedly planning to make the film on a practical budget so that it will be a win-win for them.

Shraddha Kapoor will soon be seen stepping into the shoes of ace badminton player Saina Nehwal in her upcoming biopic. Shraddha has been training rigorously to get her part right. And now, the latest news is that she has found her leading man in the film.
According to reports, Amol Gupte, who was looking for someone who would fit the bill of a badminton player, went on and roped in a real-life player and musician Eshan Naqvi opposite Shraddha in the film. The duo reportedly started out with a romantic song composed by Amaal Mallik.
Shraddha, who took a break from the shooting of the film after there were reports that she was diagnosed with dengue, will reportedly resume the shoot soon. They will start out with a romantic number and later will shoot for their scenes.

After mesmerising the audience with her period film, ‘Padmaavat’, Deepika Padukone is all set with her next project, which interestingly is a biopic. The actress will be seen playing acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in Meghna Gulzar’s next.
Presenting her thoughts on Deepika playing her character, Laxmi reportedly said that she is very happy that Deepika is playing the role. According to her, Deepika has played some wonderful characters in her career and that she believes she will do her best in this one too and that she cannot judge the actress.
Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar had reportedly done all the paper work with Laxmi in 2016 itself and it was officially announced now. When asked if she would love to act in her biopic, Laxmi added that she would love to sing in her biopic, if given a chance.

Abhay Deol to play a rugby coach in his next film?
Abhay Deol is known for doing different roles and always standing out in terms of his choice of films. After his last horror comedy flick ‘Nanu Ki Jaanu’, he will apparently be seen in a sports film next. According to reports, Abhay has been roped to play a lead role in a rugby theme sports drama film. Tentatively titled as ‘Jungle Cry’, it will see him play the role of a rugby coach. It is touted to based on a real life rugby coach Rudraksha Jena from Bhubaneshwar, who led an under-14 team to win the International School Rugby Tournament in London in 2007. Meanwhile it seems that Abhay is learning the sport and is undergoing prep for it and it is expected to go floors within a month. Directed by Shabbir Boxwala and bankrolled by Prashant Shah, the official announcement is yet to be made about the project.

After acing the role of gangster sister Haseena Parker, Shraddha Kapoor is all set to step into the shoes of ace badminton player Saina Nehwal. The makers of the biopic recently announced that the film has finally hit the floors.
The film that traces the journey of Saina Nehwal will star Shraddha Kapoor in the lead. It went on floors on September 22 in Mumbai.
Shraddha has been reportedly preparing for the film by training under former badminton player Pullela Gopichand. Reports were rife that the film was delayed as the actress struggled to pick up the nuances of the game for the movie.
The film is being directed by Amol Gupte.

Amrita Rao to play Meenatai in Bal Thackeray biopic
Amrita Rao is all set to make her comeback on the silver screen opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the Bal Thackeray biopic. Amrita, who was last seen in Anil Sharma’s 'Singh Saab The Great' is all geared up to essay the character of Meenatai Thackeray in 'Thackeray' which is based on the life of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.
Talking about the Amrita being a part of the film, Sanjay Raut, who is producing the film said that she is best suited for the role as Meenatai was Balasaheb's backbone as she held the family together and was away from politics. Furthermore, Amrita has that same innocence on her face as her character.
This film would mark Amrita's comeback after a hiatus of nearly five years. While Amrita will be seen essaying the character of Meenatai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is essaying the titular role of Bal Thackeray.
