Rani had a lovely experience interacting with the chief minister of Gujarat. Rani says, “The Chief Minister is an actual Mardaani, the kind of work she is doing for women is inspiring. She has made so many changes for women police force and women in general, it's amazing.” Rani Mukerji who is visiting Gujarat for the promotions of 'Mardaani' met the CM Anandiben Patel. Anandiben congratulated the actress on making a film as inspiring and strong as 'Mardaani'. Post her meet with the CM everyone asked Rani if she met the CM to get the film tax exemption. To which Rani said, “I don't have to request the chief minister to make it tax free. If CM likes our film, then she would make it tax free.”

Rani Mukerji’s character in 'Mardaani' takes inspiration from a real- life cop posted at Mumbai’s crime branch. Her character in the film 'Mardaani' is apparently based on a real- life lady police officer from the Mumbai crime branch, who solved several child trafficking cases in the city. It may be noted here that the cast and crew of the film have signed a non- disclosure clause with the production house. The Chopra bahu has apparently indulged in a lot of stunts. According to reports, Rani shot a motorcycle scene for which she required the help of a body double. As per the Mid-Day report, the onlookers also got a bit confused between Rani Mukerji and her body double as both were dressed similarly for the shoot. Rani had created a mark for herself with her powerful portrayal of a headstrong journalist in 'No One Killed Jessica' and a grieving mother in 'Talaash' (2012).

During the shoot of the film the cops and police officers working at that particular police station were also present. They were watching Rani with rapt attention and once she completed the scene they gave Rani a thunderous applause. After the shoot got completed a few of them even walked up to Rani and told her that her shots were very powerful and inspiring. They confessed on how she was looking excellent and suited the role perfectly.

Rani is busy promoting 'Mardaani'. On the occasion of Independence Day, Rani Mukerji visited Baramulla to meet the jawaans in that area. Rani interacted with them first hand and actively spoke to them at length about their everyday lives and regimes. She also met their families and warmly interacted with them. They wouldn't let go of her as they were extremely delighted to be in her presence. Rani also witnessed an amazing rock climbing exercise carried out by the jawaans especially for her while she was there. The lady guard who was given the duty of Rani’s personal security had a warm chat with Rani and candidly shared things with her. Overall, it was a lovely experience for Rani as well.
