Everybody knows that Farah Khan launched Zayed Khan in Main Hoon Naa. But very few must know that Zayed Khan was not the first choice to play Lucky (Laxman) in the movie. Any guesses who the first choice for the movie was? It was not Zayed Khan but the versatile actor Farhan Akhtar who was about to debut in Bollywood with Main Hoon Naa. However, things didn't work out well and it was a mutual decision between the actor and the makers for him to opt out and hence Zayed was roped in.

That is the reason why there were two photographs of Rani making an appearance in the movie.

Farah Khan wanted to re-create Rahul Dev Burman's music in the movie, but she chose not to because the movie Dil Vil Pyar Vyar which released in the year 2002, had done the exact same thing. Farah told music director Anu Malik to make the music in R.D. Burman's style. Farah and Anu Malik were judging Indian Idol together and Farah had also revealed on the show that she would ask Anu Malik to give music for her directorial debut film.

Like Farah wanted to recreate the magic of R.D.Burman’s music in Main Hoon Na, she had also given a tribute to the evergreen movie ‘Sholay’. In Main Hoon Naa, there were many scenes where audiences get a glimpse of Sholay. The scene where Shah Rukh Khan is riding a carriage while chasing the assassin, ‘Dhanno’ is written on it. This is a reference to Sholay, where Hema Malini's horse is named Dhanno.
