Happy New Year: Will the SRK-Farah magic work again?

The Happy New Year trailer, launched on August 15 was an instant hit. The much awaited trailer was packed with naach-gaana, romance and action. Speaking at the trailer launch, director Farah Khan said that she had made every effort to keep her film different from other heist movies. However, the choreographer-turned-filmmaker has wisely used the tried-and-tested formulas to make the film a runaway success. Looking at the trailer, it seems Farah has definitely hit the bull’s eye. Here's a list of things that have been a part of all Farah Khan films and seemingly make an appearance in HNY too.

Happy New Year: Will the SRK-Farah magic work again?

SRK all the way: Remember Shah Rukh Khan mouthing the famous dialogue 'Picture Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Dost' in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om? The dialogue is back and it is SRK who is delivering them here, in this film too. What's more? The actor poses in his signature arms-outstretched pose here too and a larger-than-life silhouette appears in front of the tri-colour. Happy New Year seems to be a complete Shah Rukh Khan film loaded with all his trademark moves. Like Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Na, Happy New Year seems to have all the makings of a typical Farah-SRK blockbuster.

Hit Formula: Farah Khan's choice of genre seems to be a foolproof plan for box-office success. Heist films have always clicked with the audience and seem to clock in unusually higher figures at the ticket windows. What adds to the film's appeal is the fact that Farah has roped in Abhishek and Shah Rukh who are experienced reel-life robbers. Abhishek's Players and Bluffmaster and Shah Rukh's Don and Don 2 have already established them as successful robbers in films.

Happy New Year: Will the SRK-Farah magic work again?

Best of all worlds: Happy New Year combines the best of Bollywood and promises to serve it all in one platter. Glimpses of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone performing on the stage is reminiscent of some of the best dance sequences we have seen in Bollywood. The heist drama also elicits memories of many great Bollywood action-thrillers that took the box-office by storm and one wishes to see something similar in HNY too.

Happy New Year: Will the SRK-Farah magic work again?

Deepika Padukone-SRK's chemistry: Shah Rukh Khan has earlier shared screen space with Deepika in films like Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express - both of which were mega hits. Considering their success ratio and the manner in which they sizzle in the trailer of the film, it would be of no surprise if their chemistry alone sells tickets. The fact that Deepika is also riding high on the back-to-back success of her films and SRK's last outing broke many records at the box-office, just adds to the film's prospects.

Happy New Year: Will the SRK-Farah magic work again?

Lavish: If there is one thing that can be expected off a Farah Khan-SRK film, it is grandeur. Happy New Year captures the lavishness of Dubai in all its lit-up glory. Since the movie is the Diwali release of this year, the extravagant sets, extensive fireworks and the colours make the movie a visual treat. Farah Khan seems to have made sure that the film is as larger-than-life as it gets.

Happy New Year: Will the SRK-Farah magic work again?

Farah's favourites: Farah Khan seemed to have made the film with all her favourites. Her love for SRK is known to the world and hence his inclusion seems to be the most obvious choice. Farah was the one to provide Deepika Padukone with a launch pad in Bollywood and has ensured to include her now successful protege in the film. After working with Boman in the film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, she had to include him in this one. Though Naseeruddin Shah isn't a part of this one, his son Vivan Shah is one of SRK's team members in the film!
