‘Half Girlfriend’: Interesting facts about Arjun-Shraddha starrer

Shivangi Kolhapure organised a special screening of her daughter Shraddha Kapoor's upcoming movie ‘Half Girlfriend’. The proud mama sent out invitations to a few close friends and family members to attend the screening on Thursday, 18th May.

The romantic flick has been creating a lot of buzz because it brings together Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor for the first time on-screen. The film based on Chetan Bhagat's book by the same name, sees Shraddha essaying the role of an up-town girl from Delhi, fond of playing basketball and passionate about singing.

The film directed by Mohit Suri hits theatres today, May 19, 2017.

According to a report on IANS, film director Mohit Suri said that "I didn't know Arjun earlier. I thought he was the son of a producer, didn't perceive anything in life, so he thought of becoming an actor."

The director's perception about the actor changed only after meeting him when he met him for his film 'Half Girlfriend'.

"Arjun was a fat child with no girlfriend, so then he lost weight. He then auditioned under the strict procedure of selecting actors. He auditioned and got through," Suri added.
He even added that the 'Half Girlfriend' role in the movie is very much similar to the actor's real life as the emotional impulses matched the character’s requirement which he was looking out for.

The leading stars of 'Half Girlfriend', Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor had a swell time promoting their upcoming film on the sets of 'The Kapil Sharma Show'. While the film, based on Chetan Bhagat's novel of the same name, is making the right noise ahead of its May 19 release, the stars of the Mohit Suri venture are going all out to promote the film across all media platforms. Mohit Suri helmed film 'Half Girlfriend' which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel by the same name explores the status of today's relationships. Arjun Kapoor is essaying a role of a Bihari boy whereas Shraddha Kapoor can be seen playing the role of a Delhi girl who is chasing her dreams.

Both Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor have finally come together for a movie for the first time. The duo shares an impeccable bonding on the screen which can be seen in the trailer of the movie itself. In addition to their chemistry, both can be seen competing against one another in a basketball scene wherein they can be seen showing off their moves.

Arjun Kapoor who played the role of Krish Malhotra opposite Alia Bhatt in '2 States'. The film was based on Chetan Bhagat's novel of the same name and went on to become a blockbuster. Now, the 'Gunday' star can be seen opposite Shraddha Kapoor in ‘Half Girlfriend’ which too is based on a novel.

This is the fifth time that Bollywood has opted for renowned author Chetan Bhagat's novel for a film. After ‘Hello’, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Kai Po Che!’ and '2 States', this is the fifth time a novel by Chetan Bhagat has been made into a movie.

Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'Half Girlfriend' has been shot across several locations like Varanasi, Bihar, Delhi, New York City and Cape Town. The film went into production in March 2016. Prominent shooting locations included Miranda House in New Delhi and Times Square and the UN Headquarters in New York.

Actress and singer Shraddha Kapoor who was last seen in 'OK Jaanu' will be seen donning three completely different looks in her next 'Half Girlfriend'. She could be seen having a sporty and a sophisticated look in the first half while in the second half she would be sporting a more mature look wherein she'll be dressed in more on Indian attires.
