Sunny Leone admits cringing before doing some scenes in 'Mastizaade'

Sunny Leone will soon be seen in Milap Zaveri’s upcoming adult comedy, 'Mastizaade' which also stars Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das. The film has generated quite a buzz ever since the makers first released the trailer, courtesy Sunny Leone's really hot avatar and some super steamy scenes that have raised many-a-eyebrows. But if you think Sunny’s past has made her comfortable with just about everything, you’re much mistaken. In a recent interview with Mid-day, the actress admitted that she wasn’t comfortable with doing certain scenes in 'Mastizaade' and that she even cringed before filming them. She further confessed at not liking them when she saw them on the monitor but since she had signed up for them, she did them.

While Sunny’s sex comedy might have become a subject of many discussions, it is not the first. Read on to find out about the evolution of Indian adult comedies…

From Masti to Mastizaade: Evolution of sex comedies in Bollywood

Since the new millennium began, Bollywood has changed a lot in terms of content. With newer subjects, also arrived newer genres. One such genre is adult or sex comedy. Although there were some double meaning jokes in earlier films, the emergence of unabashed adult comedies started only during the early 2000s.

Click on the following slides to check out the evolution of sex comedies in Bollywood…

Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai (2002)

The film was the first adult comedy of Bollywood in the real sense. This was also the film that brought Payal Rohatgi into Bollywood. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the film starred a host of newcomers. While ‘Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai’ isn’t well known, it did pave the way for the genre in Bollywood.

Masti (2004)

Despite making clean family entertainers like ‘Beta,’ director Indra Kumar surprised everyone by trying the adult comedy genre with ‘Masti.’ The antics of the three actors in the film – Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh – stunned the audience, who were used to family-oriented dramas. But since there was a good amount of laughter, Masti, which also starred Ajay Devgn, went on to become a success.

Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005)

This turned out to be the biggest shock for the audience. Not only because of the crazy sexual antics of the protagonists – Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh – but also due of the fact that it was produced by Ekta Kapoor, who had till then made sanskari TV serials. Despite receiving a severe backlash, ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ managed to earn well at the box-office.

Grand Masti (2014)

‘Grand Masti,’ which is the sequel to ‘Masti,’ provided the biggest shock as far as sex comedies are concerned. It won’t be an overstatement to say that ‘Grand Masti’ made ‘Masti’ appear to be a clean film. The film stars Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh. This film, too, faced a lot of flak. But it surely succeeded in setting the cash registers ringing by entering the Rs 100 crore club.

Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3 and Mastizaade (2016)

Just when we thought that we had seen it all, the trailers of ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3’ and ‘Mastizaade’ have made us think otherwise. The promos instantly went viral for obvious reasons. Plus, both films are releasing one after the other. Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3 releases on January 22 while Mastizaade will release on January 29.
