Films to look forward to in the second half of 2014

If you thought the first half of the year 2014 had a lot of excitement at the box office, then think again! The second half of the year has a lot of surprises in store. Read on to know about the hottest Bollywood films to watch out for in the months to come.

Lekar Hum Deewana Dil (4th July) and Bobby Jasoos (4th July)- The first Friday of July has Bollywood biggie Vidya Balan and her jasoosi skills come face to face with newbies Armaan Jain and Deeksha Seth. 'Lekar Hum Deewana Dil' directed by Imtiaz Ali's brother Arif Ali looks like a typical romantic film. The film has generated a lot of hype especially since it stars Raj Kapoor's grandson Armaan Jain. Giving them tough competition will be Vidya Balan as she teams up with Ali Fazal in the intriguing 'Bobby Jasoos' a film about a woman who dreams of becoming her city's numero uno detective.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya (11th July)- Karan Johar and two of his best performing students Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan will make you fall in love yet again with their romantic comedy 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' that hits cinema screens on July 11, 2014. Alia plays the bride-to-be who is obsessed with superstar Kareena Kapoor while Varun plays Humpty who is all set to lose his girl to the very suave Siddharth Shukla. Directed by Shahshank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions, 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' promises to entertain. With the film's songs already a hit, we can't wait to watch this one.

Hate Story 2 (18th July)- If the Paoli Dam and Gulshan Devaiya starrer 'Hate Story' made you raise your brows, then 'Hate Story 2' promises to take up the erotic quotient in the film a notch higher! Starring television actors Jay Bhanushali and Surveen Chawla who steam it up in this erotic thriller that releases on July 18. The month of July promises to give us a dose of various genres and the month's fill of an erotica is completed with Vishal Pandya directed 'Hate Story 2' that is produced by Vikram Bhatt. Also, Sunny Leone's item number 'Pink Lips' is another thing to watch out for.

Kick (25th July)- Salman Khan gives a special treat to his fans on Eid with the release of his film 'Kick'. Starring Jacqueline Fernandez alongside Salman for the first time, this pairing has already generated a huge buzz. Salman bhai has not disappointed his fans so far with his Eid releases like 'Wanted', 'Dabangg' and 'Ek Tha Tiger' and gauging from the response of his trailer and the film's first song 'Jumme Ki Raat' we doubt he will let us down this time too. The film marks the directorial debut of well known producer Sajid Nadiadwala. 'Kick' will ensure the audiences end July with a high! Looking forward to this one.

It's Entertainment (8th August)- An Akshay Kumar film sure has its set of audiences. And keeping that in mind we assume the Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer 'It's Entertainment' will be unadulterated fun at the movies. The film's trailer generated a good response and keeping in mind the slapstick comedy genre of the film, there is no one other than Akshay Kumar who makes the theme work. Going by the film's title and its fresh pairing, 'It's Entertainment' looks like a film to watch out for. It is expected to release on August 8, 2014.

Singham Returns (15th August)- Independence Day holiday weekend is going to be so much more exciting this time as Inspector Bajirao comes alive on the big screen once again with 'Singham Returns'. Starring Ajay Devgn and his leading lady Kareena Kapoor from the 'Golmaal' series, 'Singham Returns' promises to be a complete package. The audiences love Rohit Shetty's style of cinema and he returns to entertain them with the same in 'Singham Returns'. The film is a sequel to the blockbuster 'Singham' and will see Ajay Devgn co-produce the movie.

Mardaani (22nd August)- Rani Mukerji comes back with her 'comeback' film and this time the proceedings turn meatier as she stars in a film produced by her husband Aditya Chopra. Going by the trailer of the film, Rani Mukerji plays a bad-ass cop who is geared to get her hands dirty to solve a case for girl trafficking in the country. Unlike her last 'comeback' film 'Aiyya', Rani hits the right notes with 'Mardaani', a crime thriller. Excited to see Rani in a never seen before avatar in this Pradeep Sarkar directed film. Rani Mukerji starrer 'Mardaani gets ready to pack a punch on August 22, 2014.

Desi Kattey (28th August) and Raja Natwarlal (29th August)- The last weekend of August will see two films 'Desi Kattey' and 'Raja Natwarlal' release at a day's difference. 'Desi Kattey' starring Suneil Shetty, Sasha Agha, Jay Bhanushali and Tia Bajpai promises to be an action thriller and is aiming for an August 28th release. 'Raja Natwarlal' on the other hand is an Emraan Hashmi film that also stars Pakistani actress Humaima Malik. Again a thriller, this film is directed by Kunal Deshmukh and backed by UTV. Hashmi's film made news for his Natwarlal character that seems to be inspired from Amitabh Bachchan's role as Natwarlal. According to reports, Abhishek Bachchan was offered an important part in the film but he refused.

Dawat-e-Ishq (5th September)- A treat for food lovers makes its way in the first week of September with the release of 'Dawat-e-Ishq'. Starring Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur, the film is touted to be a delicious romantic one which sees Parineeti play a role of a Hyderabadi shoe-sales girl disillusioned with love because of her encounters with dowry-seeking men. Aditya on the other hand plays a Lucknowi cook who charms his way into people's hearts with his cooking. Directed by Habib Faisal, the film is produced by Yash Raj Films and makes its way into the cinema screens on September 5, 2014.

Creature (12th September), NH10 (12 September) and Finding Fanny (12th September)- Three big actresses will fight it out on the big screen as their films release on the same freaky Friday. Bipasha Basu's 'Creature' a 3D horror flick will see Pakistani actor Abbas starring opposite the lady. The film was supposed to release earlier but was postponed to this date by director Vikram Bhatt when Ajay Devgn's 'Singham Returns' was decided to release on the same day. 'NH10' is another most awaited film of the year. Directed by Navdeep Singh of 'Manorma Six Feet Under' fame, the film stars actress Anushka Sharma and Neil Bhoopalam. The film is grabbing headlines as it is produced by the actress herself along with ace director Anurag Kashyap. The third film that has decided to release on the same date is Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor starrer 'Finding Fanny'. It is an English/Konkani film directed by Homi Adajania. The film has generated huge amount of interest because of its stellar star cast and its unconventional story line. The film will see actors Pankaj Kapur, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah in prominent parts.

Khoobsurat (19th September)- Remakes of old Bollywood classics will come back in fashion as Sonam Kapoor's 'Khoobsurat' will gear up for a release on September 19, 2014. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Sonam's sister Rhea Kapoor and her father Anil Kapoor, this film is a remake of Rekha and Rakesh Roshan starrer of the same name. One to watch out for, the film introduces Pakistani actor Fawad Afzal Khan and also stars Ratna Pathak, Kirron Kher and Prosenjit Chatterjee. This will be the beautiful Sonam Kapoor's last release of the year.

Happy New Year- Come October and even though it is two months shy of the new year, the cast of the film 'Happy New Year' think otherwise. Touted as one of the biggest releases of the year, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Happy New Year' is expected to hit the cinemas sometime in October. Directed by Farah Khan and produced by Gauri Khan, the film is a typical Bollywood comedy-drama and has Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff in it. With only the poster of the film released so far, we expect nothing less than pure entertainment from this film. After all it is a Shah Rukh Khan film!

Bang Bang (2nd October) and Haider (2nd October)- Expect the clash of the titans on the otherwise peaceful holiday of October 2, 2014. Bollywood heartthrobs Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor are expected to come out with their most awaited films of the year on this date. Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer 'Bang Bang' and Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'Haider' may clash on the same Friday. While Hrithik's film has garnered a huge interest because of his injury that happened on the sets of this film and his ongoing divorce proceedings. 'Haider' is apparently releasing on the same day and considering it has a good line up of actors and director Vishal Bhardwaj at the helm of affairs, it promises to attract huge audiences.

Hawaaizaada (10th October)- The first look of the film released a while ago generated a good response and from news reports, we gather that 'Hawaaizaada' releases on October 10, 2014. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Sharda, the film is based on the life of scientist Shivkar Bapuji Talpade who is credited to have constructed India's first unmanned plane. The film is believed to have been set in the Bombay of 1895. The film is directed by Vibhu Puri, a National award winning short film director. The film was earlier titled 'Bambai Fairytale'.

Action Jackson (7th November) and Kill Dil (14th November)- Post 'Singham Returns', Ajay Devgn will be seen in Prabhudeva's 'Action Jackson'. Starring Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam, Sonu Sood and Kunaal Roy Kapur, the film is expected to hit theaters on November 7, 2014. A week after that will see the star cast of 'Kill Dil' on the big screen. Expected to release on November 14, 'Kill Dil' stars Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Ali Zafar and none other than Govinda! The film is produced under the Yash Raj Films banner and directed by 'Saathiya' director Shaad Ali.

Ungli (21st November)- After being postponed for so long, 'Ungli' is touted for a November 21st release date. Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Rensil D'Silva, 'Ungli' features Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Dutt. 'Ungli' boasts of a never seen before trio and after being pulled back for various reasons is finally geared up for a release during the end of the year.

Bombay Velvet (28th November)- Directed by Anurag Kashyap, 'Bombay Velvet' is a Hindi neo noir drama starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. It is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables', a story of how the city of Mumbai became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. The film is the story of one ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a 'Big Shot'. The film's screenplay has been written by Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar and Vikramaditya Motwane. The film's shooting in Sri Lanka generated a lot of buzz at that time.

Tevar (5th December)- Another fresh pairing comes in the form of Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha who team up for their film 'Tevar'. Produced by Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, the film is directed by Amit Sharma. The film has been a talking point as Arjun Kapoor is teaming up with his father for the first time in this film. Alongside the lead pair, 'Tevar' also stars Manoj Bajpayee.

P.K. (December 19, 2014) and Welcome Back (December 19, 2014)- No one dares to give Bollywood's perfectionist Aamir Khan a challenge at the box office but according to recent BO reports, we think there is going to be a clash between Aamir Khan's 'P.K.' and John Abraham's 'Welcome Back'. Both the films are touted for a release on the same Friday of December 19, 2014. 'P.K.' is one of the biggest releases of the year and an Aamir film has its own loyal audience. 'P.K.' also stars Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput and is directed by Raj Kumar Hirani. 'Welcome Back' on the other hand is a sequel of the 2007 blockbuster 'Welcome'. A comedy film, apart from John Abraham 'Welcome Back' stars Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Shruti Haasan, Paresh Rawal, Shiney Ahuja and Dimple Kapadia. Let's wait and watch who wins this BO battle.
