Films Big B and Rekha could have starred in

It's been long since rumours of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha coming together have been doing the rounds. A hoard of producers and directors have over the years tried their best to get these two former lovers on the big screen but all in vain. While these two actors will ever work together onscreen is still a mystery, let's re-visit a few films that we think could have had Big B and Rekha together as a couple once again.

Baghban- Directed by Ravi Chopra, 'Baghban' was a perfect love story about an old couple who are separated for a brief period because of their children. The film showed intense love and passion between Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan. Their longing for each other was beautifully captured. A big hit, we would have loved to see Rekha stepping into Hema's role and re-creating their 'Silsila' magic.

Do Dooni Chaar- A feel good film of a happy couple trying hard to keep pace with inflationary times and maintaining a middle-class life. Although we loved Rishi and Neetu Kapoor in this one, it would have been interesting to see Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha trying to handle mundane domestic issues. If not in real life, it would be fun watching them play husband-wife on screen.

Besharam- Knee-deep in toilet humour, it would have been crazy fun if Amitabh and Rekha had taken up roles of constables Chulbul and Babli Chautala. Rishi and Neetu's 'Besharam' act was also too much to take in, but no one would have imagined Big B and Rekha in this avtaar onscreen. It would have been a surprise for all their fans!

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham- Even though Jaya Bachchan gave a killer performance as a subdued wife and got a lot of whistles for her "Keh dia...bas keh dia" dialogue in Karan Johar's family saga 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. The film would have gotten an altogether different response with Rekha mouthing those lines to Amitabh Bachchan.

Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.- Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani played a much-in-love couple in Zoya Akhtar's 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.'. As a much older couple on a honeymoon after their second marriage, Shabana and Boman gave us some memorable scenes. Here's another befitting role for the two veterans.
