Fawad Khan: Lesser known facts

While most actors in B-town might feel otherwise, singer-turned-actor Fawad Khan does not consider good looks as one of his strengths. The 'Khoobsurat' actor recently shared his thoughts on being called handsome and good looking all the time, and his answers may surprise you. In his latest interaction, Fawad revealed that good looks are just an added perk to him. Although he doesn't get bored when people praise his appearance, he feels that doing versatile roles is something that makes him feel alive and keeps his audience entertained too. If the reports are to be believed, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, who dared to play a homosexual in ‘Kapoor and Sons’, refused to let down his guard to play naughty at a recent award function held in Madrid. Fawad, who made his debut as a award show host, was so hesitant to mouth his lines that the script was tweaked to make him comfortable. Not only this, Karan Johar, who is quite a sport at hosting, too underplayed to make the act work.

He has only done two films in Bollywood so far but Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has made a place for himself in the hearts of the audience. While he is now an established actor, there was a time when the dapper looking star had to face some brutal rejections.

Yes, the actor, for a very long time, pursued Mira Nair’s film, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ but eventually lost out on the role. In an interview with Anupama Chopra, Fawad said, “I remember I wanted to get into films. I felt this (‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’) is my shot and after this shot, I will be where I want to go. I auditioned for it. I was constantly in conversation. Suddenly, new entrants came into the race. I didn't get it eventually. I felt maine ek saal zaaya kar diya.”

In the interview, Fawad goes on to admit that he was not a good actor then and wanted to take revenge of it by polishing his craft. He said, “From there on, I felt ki gayi film bhaad mein. I am gonna take my revenge and polish my craft. I was not a good actor. I understood my weaknesses. I know why I lost out on that project. I polished my craft in television. Who knew television would bring me where I am?”

There was a time when the promotions of the film 'Kapoor and Sons' had kept him super busy. However, this had upset his 8-year-old son, Ayaan. Being tied up with promotions, Fawad certainly wasn’t able to manage time for family.

He told a leading daily that he was home for only five or six days and when he was leaving, his son put his foot down and told him that he was not allowed to go. Fawad further said that he was heartbroken on this.

There were reports about Fawad Khan turning down ‘Battle Of Bittora’ opposite Sonam Kapoor as he wasn’t comfortable with the intimate scenes the script demanded. However, the Pakistani actor has revealed that it was because of date issues that he couldn’t do the film. But the actor is also quoted saying that he won’t be comfortable kissing or going intimate onscreen, at least for the time being, since people of his country aren’t ready for it yet.

Fawad Khan who was last seen in Khoobsurat opposite Sonam Kapoor apparently wants to take it slow. According to a report on Post.jagran.com, sources suggest that Sohail Khan had recently approached Fawad for one of the lead roles in his upcoming project. However, the Pakistani heartthrob politely turned down the offer, the report stated. Quoting a source close to the development, the report stated that Fawad did not like the script and wants to take it slow. The actor, who is not comfortable doing intimate scenes, is currently shooting in Coonoor for Karan Johar’s Kapoor & Sons.
