Emraan Hashmi: Lesser known facts

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, after the trailer of Emraan Hashmi's supernatural thriller, Mr. X, premiered online, social media has been buzzing over the similarities between the Vikram Bhatt directorial and the 2000 Hollywood thriller, Hollow Man. There's a sequence in which Emraan's Mr. X becomes visible when orange paint is thrown on him which seems 'inspired' by the Kevin Bacon-starrer. Quashing the claims, the film's director, Vikram Bhatt says, “Indian filmmakers are trying to create original, quality stuff so it's sad when someone tries to bring down your film based on a two minute teaser. Just because Krissh flies, does it make him Spiderman?" When the specific scene was underlined to him as a reference point, he insisted that it wasn't just paint that showed up his Mr. X. "He's visible through a lot of other mediums, underwater for instance. I don't even remember what Hollow Man is about." The film's producer, Mahesh Bhatt, also added, "Mr. X is not Hollow Man or Mr India reinvented but grew from a nostalgic yearning to revisit the Mr. X franchise. It had Ashok Kumar playing an invisible man, was produced by GP Sippy and directed by my father Nanabhai Bhatt in 1957."

The trailer of Mr. X is being much appreciated and Emraan, though invisible, seems to make his mark. Apart from his playboy image and steaming roles, there are some relatively unknown facts about Emraan Hashmi. Let’s take a look...

Even after some remarkable and hard-hitting performances in films like Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and Shanghai, Emraan couldn't shrug off the tag. When Awaarapan, a crime thriller, released in 2006, it bombed at the box-office. Reports cited 'no steamy scenes' as the reason behind the film falling flat at the box-office.

When his wife dug her nails into his skin: While we know quite a lot about Emraan's work on the camera, his life behind the camera is hidden from the media glare. Emraan dated Parveen Shahani who is now his wife for more than six years. They started seeing each other when they were in school. Despite his casanova image, he has never let his professional life affect his personal life. But on the fourth season of Koffee with Karan, Hashmi revealed how his wife reacted to his intimate scenes in Murder. Parveen, who apparently wasn’t aware about such scenes, dug her nails in Emraan’s arms with anxiety and by the time the film ended, the actor had several marks on his wrist. From that point, Hashmi never watched any of his films with his wife, as he knew that such intense scenes will only increase the marks on his body.
