Did Sonakshi Sinha go for an image makeover to break perceptions?

Different choices - Sonakshi Sinha chose a different route when she decided to co-judge singing reality show, Indian Idol Junior. While her contemporaries refrain from TV (most turn to it only post retirement from Bollywood), Sonakshi chose otherwise. The actress seemed very excited about co-judging the show. For someone who is only a few years in the industry, it's quite a risk we say!

Sonakshi Sinha, the Dabangg girl of Bollywood, seems to have undergone an image makeover. The actress has played the girl next door kind of roles and has largely been seen in an Indian avatar on screen. Be it films like Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore, Lootera or Tevar, Sonakshi is viewed as traditional beauty rather than a glamorous diva in Bollywood. But it seems Sona has changed this perception about her. Of late, the actress has broken her stereotype and surprised fans in a pleasant way. Shedding the weight - When Sonakshi Sinha joined the industry, she shed oodles of weight to become an actress. However, she was still more curvaceous than her contemporaries in an industry that is obsessed with a size zero. Of late, Sonakshi seems to have lost more weight and is busy flaunting her svelte figure. The actress even surprised one and all when she did a handstand and posted a picture on Instagram with the caption, "#throwbackthursday Im not upside down, the world is!! Waiting on my wrist to get okay so i can do this again!#handstand #fitness #strength #balance" [sic] This sure is impressive and Sonakshi is certainly making all heads turn.

Short locks - Sonakshi surprised her fans when she ditched her long tresses and opted for a bob cut. The actress even documented this journey and took to social media to inform her fans. She posted on micro-blogging site Twitter, "Hair today, gone tomorrow! Short hair!!! After yeeeaaarrrsss! #excitedmeinedda thanks @kantamo @KromaKaySalon" [sic] Since the hair cut, Sonakshi has maintained her tresses, often colouring it and curling it to offer something fresh and new each time. This has certainly helped the actress shed her traditional image, to that of a more glamorous one.

More active on social media - Whether it's Twitter or Instagram, Sonakshi's social media profiles are interesting and entertaining. Suddenly, she seems more accessible to fans. The Rowdy Rathore actress has been regaling her fans with dubsmash and Sona has caught on to it big time. Not only that, she even made Salman Khan do an interesting dubsmash on one of her father's dialogues. Sonakshi also keeps her fans updated, be it hosting the iifa this year in Malaysia or sharing a childhood picture with papa Shotgun, Sonakshi keeps it entertaining!

Experimenting with her roles - Sonakshi has generally played the damsel in distress in many of her movies and has been a part of masala potboilers. But with AK Murugadoss' Akira, Sonakshi has gone all out and will be seen doing some high octane action sequences. She even took to Twitter to post a while ago, "Just finished my 1st ever action sequence for #AKIRA! Exciting and exhausting!!! So tired but the adrenaline still pumping, bring it on" [sic]
