An upset Bhansali asks Deepika to keep mum about her acting fees?

There are two unwritten rules - never ask a man his salary and a girl, her age. However, this can very well be reversed it seems. Well, at least in the case of Deepika Padukone, who is rumoured to have been paid a whopping Rs 11 crore for her next period drama 'Padmavati' which will be directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and will see her in the titular role. However, Bhansali, who is extremely protective about even the minutest details of his ambitious projects, including his actors, is reported to be very upset with Deepika. Bhansali was in for a rude shock when he read the news of Deepika being paid Rs 11 crore for 'Padmavati'. Interestingly, the actress was reportedly paid Rs 1 crore for 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela' just two years ago and now, if the news of her being paid Rs 11 crore is true then this would be the biggest and the highest jump for any Bollywood actor as far as acting remuneration is concerned. Whether this news is completely true or not is something only Deepika and Bhansali know best, but irrespective of that, the maverick filmmaker isn't too happy that the details of the monetary deals between him and his actors have made it to the headlines!

However, with Deepika back in Mumbai and Neyman shooting for his part only recently, we wonder if the duo will be sharing screen space together.

Cocktail: No one would have thought that Deepika’s journey in films would become even tougher post Love Aaj Kal. But as fate would have it, the actress faced a series of flops in the following two years before Homi Adajania’s romantic comedy Cocktail happened in 2012. Deepika’s character of a carefree bird, Veronica, fetched her a volley of appreciation. A superhit at the box-office, Cocktail earned the leggy lass a huge number of fans. For Deepika, this ‘Cocktail’ was not about letting loose but gaining control of her film career.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Cast opposite her ex-boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is one of Deepika’s most remembered films till date. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela: Fortunate are the ones who get a chance to work with a director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Having proved her acting skills in various films, Deepika was chosen to play Leela in Bhansali’s ambitious project, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. While Deepika’s desi look was much appreciated, her performance too stumped everyone. Also, with the film, the actress proved her ability to fit into any kind of role.

We wish Deepika a very Happy Birthday and a great year ahead!
