Rani shooting for Mardaani

Rani Mukerji surprised everyone with the sudden news of her wedding with Aditya Chopra. The duo got hitched in Italy. However the actress was soon back to business. Rani Mukerji started shooting for her next film Mardaani. It is produced by her husband, Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. The film is considered to be a solid comeback for the actress. She will be playing a female centric role here, carrying the movie on her shoulders.

Rani shooting for Mardaani

Rani had already started shooting for Mardaani before her marriage. She was soon back on the sets of the film after a hush-hush wedding. Mardaani will see Rani Mukerji play an intense cop. Not many actresses have attempted to play such a role in the past. Leaving behind her glam look, Rani Mukerji’s acting talent will be put to test. Rani has been practicing a lot for her stunts in the film. Mardaani being her solo lead, Rani Mukerji will have a lot of responsibility riding on her.

The final schedule of the film is being shot at Mehboob studios in Mumbai. Reportedly, Rani also met up with a few cops to understand her role better. And according to a Hindustan Times report, Mardaani is based on a real life lady officer. However everything about the film is being kept under wraps. Instead of going for a comedy or romantic genre, Rani decided to play it tough for a better space in the industry. Mardaani is expected to release in August this year.

Rani shooting for Mardaani

Mardaani will be Rani Mukerji’s first release after her marriage. The film is also considered to give an extra push to the actress’career. Previously Rani has had a string of duds at the box office. Films like Aiyyaa and Dil Bole Hadippa could not give the required push to her career in Bollywood. And with newer actresses coming on the block, Rani had to pull up her socks. However with the stamp of Yash Raj Films and an image change, Mardaani might just take off Rani’s filmy aspirations to a different level.

Rani shooting for Mardaani

Mardaani has Rani Mukerji portray the character of Shivani Roy who is a crime branch office. She will be seen pulling the trigger and with the gun at most times. From the first look of it, the film seems to have Rani set in a tough look. The actress will be donning tom-boyish clothes and pulled up sleeves. A serious face to go with the dressing style completes Rani’s onscreen cop personality. A cop like character in Mardaani is not seen before in Bollywood, and Rani could just start a new trend with it.
