Bollywood stars who became parents in 2016

Bollywood royalty Saif Ali Khan and his begum Kareena Kapoor Khan were blessed with a baby boy on Tuesday, 20 December. The proud parents named they little prince Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi.

Kareena gave birth to her first child at a city hospital at around 8.30 am on Tuesday. The couple along with their families were quick to thank well-wishers for their congratulatory messages and also announce that both mother and baby were doing fine. Their official statement read, “We are very pleased to share with you all the wonderful news about the birth of our son: Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, on the 20th of December 2016. We would like to thank the media for the understanding and support they have given us over the last 9 months, and of course especially our fans and well wishers for their continued affection. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all...With love, Saif and Kareena.”

Pakistani heart throb Fawad Khan welcomed his second child, a beautiful baby girl with wife Sadaf in October. The cople named their little princess Elayna Fawad Khan.The baby’s birth came as a joyous surprise while the actor’s profession life was caught in a bit of a turmoil due to the Indo-Pak tension. Fawad had found himself caught in a political crossfire after the Uri attacks, which lead to the ban being imposed on Pakistani artistes working in India. The actor’s representatives issued a statement that the star was by his wife’s side during her delivery and assured fans that both mother and baby were healthy and fine. Fawad later went on to make the formal announcement by sending out red velvet cakes to his close friends and family.

Actor Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira became proud parents to a baby girl on August 26. The baby, who was due in September, arrived early but that only meant more celebration at the Kapoor household. The proud papa had taken to his social networking handle to express his joy saying, “She has arrived and words fall short to express our happiness. Thank you for all your wishes.”

Both Shahid and Mira have so far kept their baby under wraps and have not yet shared a picture of the toddler.

Tusshar Kapoor surprised fans and friends when he announced that he had become a proud father to a baby boy Laksshya Kapoor. The actor chose to become a single parent by opting for surrogacy and welcomed a son in August. Tusshar held a special press conference at his residence when he made the formal announcement and said, “I wanted to be a father. I met Dr. Firuza Parikh and she suggested this procedure. I was in a hurry to become a father. I am turning 40 in a few months, so I felt I was at the right stage to become a single parent and I went ahead with what was told to me. I am happy that I have taken the right decision. Our family is complete now, we are five now, grandparents, me, my sister and little Laksshya.”

Actress Geeta Basra and her cricketer husband Harbhajan Singh welcomed their first child on July 27. The star couple, who wed in a lavish ceremony, jetted out to London for the delivery. The couple took to their social networking handles to announce the name of their little bundle of joy, Hinaya Heer Plaha. Geeta even went on to tease her followers by posting an image of the baby girl with a caption that read, “Thank you, everyone, for the love and beautiful wishes for our little angel.. #blessed #Godsmiracle #bestfeeling.”

On June 1, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia were blessed with a second baby boy Rahyl. The couple who wed in 2012, had their first baby Riaan in November 2014. Riteish took to his social networking handle to made the official announcement of his baby’s arrival in a rather cute and unique way. He shared a picture of a frowning Riaan with a caption that read, “Hey guys, my Aai & Baba just gifted me a little brother. Now all my toys are his…- Love Riaan.”
