Baazigar

Bollywood baadshah Shah Rukh Khan showed his negative side for the first time in Baazigar, starring Kajol and Shilpa Shetty. The story of the film was reportedly inspired by the Hollywood movie, A Kiss Before Dying. King Khan, for the very first time, played an anti-hero and murderer, who murders his girlfriend. It was the first movie that featured the famous Shah Rukh-Kajol jodi and was also a major commercial success at the time of its release. SRK won his first Filmfare Award in the Best Actor category for this film, which was also remade in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Darr: A Violent Love Story

Yash Chopra's Darr is the second film in which King Khan played a negative role. Shah Rukh Khan plays Juhi Chawla's obsessive lover in Darr, which also stars Sunny Deol. The film was a box-office hit and earned SRK a Filmfare Award nomination in the Best Performance in a Negative Role category. The most popular dialogue of Badshah "I love you, k-k-k-kiran" is still popular among the audience and is widely imitated.

Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, again featured in a negative role. He played an obsessive lover in Anjaam, opposite Madhuri Dixit. Anjaam was the first film in which SRK and Madhuri Dixit were paired together. This film was a commercial failure but King Khan won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor while the 'Dhak Dhak' girl Madhuri was also nominated for the Filmfare Best Actress award for her role.

Mahesh Bhatt's Duplicate is an action-comedy film in which Shah Rukh Khan was seen playing a double role of Bablu Chaudhry and Manu Dada. The film also had Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre as the leading ladies. Duplicate was similar to American action film, The One. This film again got King Khan nominated for the Filmfare Award in the Best Performance in a Negative Role category, but was declared a flop at the box-office.

Don 2 is a sequel of the 2006 film, Don, that had starred Amitabh Bachchan. Shah Rukh Khan played the leader of an underworld group and his portrayal of a stylish criminal in Don 2 was appreciated by the audience. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Boman Irani and Kunal Kapoor.
