Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married at Villa Del Balbianello, Lake Como in Italy on 14th and 15th November, this year. The couple had grand yet and private ceremonies for the two days. On the first day, the marriage took place according to the Konkani rituals followed by a Sindhi wedding on the second day.


The security was extremely high, guests were asked not to share any pictures from the wedding on social media. Now, recently, the actress revealed why the couple opted for Lake Como as their destination.


She said that they had announced everything, marriage dates and etc a month before their marriage. And she was on a break this year, so it all worked out perfectly. Talking about why opted a venue outside India, she said that as privacy was extremely important to the couple and when they went around, the place felt correct for them.


She further revealed that Ranveer's family was okay with them just doing the Konkoni wedding, however, Deepika said that it was important to embrace his culture as well.

Honouring both of their respective culture and traditions, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married in two ways – one in Konkani traditional style and in another Sindhi traditional style. While for the Konkani style they had a pundit flown in from India, this is what they did for the Anand Karaj ceremony.

According to reports, for the Anand Karaj, a priest was flown all the way from Amritsar to Italy, and as the ritual goes, the ceremony is to take place at the Gurudwara. And hence, a makeshift Gurudwara was also built within the Villa for the Anand Karaj. The report further added that the Anand Karaj started off in the morning, and went on till the afternoon.

While the Konkani style wedding took place in a subtle and classy manner, for the Sindhi wedding, Ranveer Singh arrived in a boat along with his baaraat, giving it the classic Ranveer twist. The actor also apparently danced on his favourite Bollywood numbers in his baaraat.

For the Anand Karaj ceremony, the couple was seen dressed in red traditional attire and needless to say they looked absolutely stunning as bride and groom.
