Akshay, Dimple domestic violence case: Anita Advani speaks

According to a report, the Supreme Court has agreed to examine a petition filed by Anita Advani, on the legal status of a woman's live-in relationship with a married man. Anita claims to have lived-in with late Bollywood icon Rajesh Khanna for 10 years. In a conversation with The Times Of India, Ankita speaks out on the satisfaction and her stand in the case. When asked about her current state of mind, Anita said, "I am very satisfied and I am very relieved. I feel there is justice and finally truth prevails. What I deserve, I should get. I know whatever I am saying is truth and that's the reason I don't need any other help. I know it's difficult to fight alone and for a woman to go to Supreme Court alone, but I will still continue the fight."

According to a report, in her petition, Anita challenged an order of the Bombay High Court, which had barred her from invoking the Domestic Violence Act against Khanna's widow Dimple Kapadia, daughter Twinkle and son-in-law Akshay Kumar. The HC had ruled that Advani did not qualify for protection under the DV Act since her partner, the first 'superstar' of Indian cinema, was a married man. In her plea before the SC, Advani pointed out that Khanna was estranged from Dimple for close to two decades prior to his death in July 2012. When asked about it, Anita said, "The HC ruled out my petition without even hearing my story. They refused to see all the proofs I had. Rajesh Khanna was single and deserted by his wife when I was with him."

Anita expressed her dissatisfaction about the demolition of Rajesh Khanna's bungalow in Mumbai. "Rajesh Khanna always wanted to convert it into a museum and I will fight till the end for it. I was shocked and hurt to know about the stories about its demolition. Dimple Kapadia and Akshay Kumar don't tell me anything. In fact, they don't even want to talk about it. I am amazed, from a family home how come the bungalow became a sellable property. Lot of his friends feel that the bungalow shouldn't be demolished, but many don't have the courage to fight for truth," said Advani.

While talking about her relationship with Akshay Kumar and Dimple Kapadia, Anita said, "I didn't complain about them till the time they were nice to me. But I went through a lot of humiliation and insult and I will fight for it. The way they treated me is nothing but domestic violence. Akshay and Dimple think that they can buy justice with money, but everything can't be bought. Now, they don't even try to get in touch with me."

Anita once again cleared the air about Rajesh Khanna and her relationship and reinstated that she is not doing this for any other reason, but for justice. "I have no issues if they turn the bungalow into a museum. I won't complain or ask for anything. We were not married, but we were passionately in love. I and Rajesh Khanna shared lot of things and Dimple had been away from his life. We were more than a married couple. I am happy that there are laws for live-in-partners and I will continue to fight the whole world," concluded Anita.
