Dangal Review: Aamir Khan's movie is both inspiring and entertaining

What works wonderfully for Dangal is the writing. Director Nitesh Tiwari, along with Piyush Gupta, Shreyas Jain and Nikhil Mehrotra should be complimented for their tongue-in-cheek quality, peppered with humour and several poignant father-daughter emotions all through. Of course, a little bit is lost in translation because of the Haryanvi twang. But, messages on our obsession with the male child (prevalent since the dark ages), myopic stand on bringing up our daughters and the administration's pathetic disposition towards sports, are loud and clear. Aamir Khan’s upcoming biopic based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat has been creating quite a stir even before the film went on floors, courtesy, Aamir’s bulked up avatar for the film. He now has to play the younger version of Mahavir Phogat, on whom his character in the film is based on. After this, he will shed 13 more kilos to attain the ‘Ghajini’ shape. But what is he doing with his XL-sized clothes which would be of no use to him now. Well, he will give away all these clothes to charity.
