Aamir Khan's 50th birthday: All that happened at the bash

Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan turned a year older as he celebrated his 50th birthday in Lonavala with family and friends from the film fraternity on March 14. The birthday boy was all smiles as he arrived for the party organised by his wife Kiran Rao. Aamir, who had admitted that he feels embarrassed for all the attention he gets on his birthday, was seen dressed in casuals.

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, from a 'clean' stand-up comedy and a play performed by his children, to wife Kiran Rao singing the Beatles hit 'When I'm 64...', Aamir Khan's 50th birthday was a chaste affair with a few select friends and family for company. The celebration was a weekend bash at a Lonavala resort in presence of Aamir's industry friends, Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Prasoon Joshi, Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji, Kunal Kapoor and family, Mukesh Ambani with wife Nita and family, the report stated.

The Mumbai Mirror report stated that wife Kiran Rao planned everything for the big day, right from the reservations to the entertainers. "She even got a western band to perform and crooned the hit Beatles song, 'When I'm 64...', for Aamir. He couldn't take his eyes away from her and everyone was wowed by how well she sang," a guest at the party was quoted in the report.

Aamir's big day started with him sitting down for an early lunch with his friends. He then headed for the pool with Raju Hirani, Prasoon Joshi and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, stated the Mumbai Mirror report. Some of the guests had reached on Friday night itself, while others arrived on Saturday afternoon.

As stated in the Mumbai Mirror report, a magician performed tricks at the celebrations throughout the day. Moreover, following the controversy over the AIB Roast, stand-up comedian Raju Srivastav was instructed to stick to 'clean-comedy.' Reportedly, Kiran had got in touch with him a week ago and told him to stick to family jokes. Aamir's kids, Junaid and Ira, with little Azad, performed a skit wishing their father a 'Happy 50', stated the report.

Anil Kapoor, who was also present at the resort, urged Aamir Khan to dance, stated the Mirror report. The DJ started playing 'Papa kehte hain' from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, followed by a song from each of Aamir's films. This ended with PK's popular number 'Tharki chokro'.

Aamir Khan got emotional at the celebration and in this thank you speech, Aamir thanked his ex-wife, Reena, for bearing with him for 16 years, stated the Mirror report. He also thanked Kiran Rao for "somehow keeping up" with him. He also admitted that he felt like a boy of 18 rather than a man of 50!
