Aamir Khan - Flashback to the Future!

Aamir Khan is known as Mr. Perfectionist in Bollywood. He has become an institution in himself. A filmmaker, an actor and a person who fervently believes in fighting for social causes, Aamir Khan has become a force to reckon with. Though the past year was controversy ridden for this Khan, he has managed to pull through all the mire with courage and gutso. Let us go through a few pages from the career of this actor who has performed epic roles whether it was an alien in 'PK' or a law enforcer in 'Sarfarosh' to an autistic teacher in 'Tare Zameen Par' or his iconic comedy film 'Andaz Apna Apna'. Lets begin the journey...

An actor begins

Though he began his career appearing as a child artist in his uncle, Nasir Khan's film 'Yaadon Ki Baaraat', his shot to fame was from the movie 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' opposite Juhi Chawla. His chocolate boy looks won the hearts of thousands of girls all over India! After this tragic romantic saga, his other hit was 'Dil' opposite Madhuri Dixit which was followed by another romantic hit with Pooja Bhatt, 'Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi'. Aamir Khan as a student in 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander' went on to become the heartthrob of his already crazy fans and even got nominated for best actor.

Apart From Acting

Though Aamir was already proving his mettle as an actor, his inclination towards the process of making the films had already taken root when he was assistant director in a couple of movies earlier. In the film 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke', apart from acting, the actor wrote the screenplay of the film too. He sang the famous song 'Aati Kya Khandala' in 'Ghulam' which is remembered even today. He has also sung in 'Mangal Pandey: The Rising' and 'Rang De Basanti' which went on to become hit patriotic films and got him nominated again for best actor award.

Onward to filmmaking

'Taare Zameen Par' marked Aamir's foray into direction. Though he had already produced the hit 'Lagaan' earlier, it was 'Taare Zameen Par' which proved to the industry that Aamir Khan was not just an award-winning actor (which he never accepts) but also a director to be reckoned with. As a producer, his films 'Dhobi Ghar', Peepli Live' and 'Delhi Belly' were critically acclaimed.

Future perfect!

'Dhoom 3' gave the industry the first 300 club movie. After 'PK', Aamir's next film is 'Dangal', a biopic on the life of wrestler Mahavir Phogat. Mr. Perfectionist who is known for his method preparation, has not only put on oodles of weight for the role, but also went through rigourous training to get into the skin of the character who is a wrestler. With so much preparation and detailing that he puts into his characters, no doubt the actor releases only one movie a year!
