Sunny Leone had made public her desire to work with three top Khans of Bollywood and her wish came true as she shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in a rehashed version of ‘Laila O Laila’ from Feroz Khan – Zeenat Aman starrer ‘Qurbani’. Sunny became the Laila to SRK’s Raees. Not only that, Sunny set out with SRK for the film’s promotional activities as well, in absence of the movie’s lead actress Mahira Khan, who couldn’t step foot in the country owing to the ban on Pakistani artists.

Sunny Leone, who is a brand ambassador for a condom manufacturer, found herself in the eye of a storm for featuring in a Navratri-themed condom advertisement in Gujarat. On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, authorities tore down dozens of billboards after a slew of complaints about an advertisement featuring the former adult star promoting the use of condoms ahead of the festival of Navratri. Local authorities in Gujarat, removed the advertisements as controversy mounted.

The image of Leone, advertising contraceptives ahead of the religious celebration proved to be too much for some in the state. Although the advertisement features no image of a condom, it stoked outrage for its slogan, "Play with love this Navratri". In a written complaint, the Confederation of All India Traders accused the condom manufacturer behind the risqué ad of taking marketing "to an all-time low".

In July 2017, Sunny and her husband Daniel Weber adopted their first child from Latur, a village in Maharashtra. The baby girl named Nisha was 21 months old at the time of adoption. Less than four months after Sunny Leone made her mass entry to Kerala surprising herself seeing the huge fan followers in the state, the actress plans to mark her presence in Mollywood. She will be doing a multilingual movie directed by V C Vadivudaiyan. The film will be made in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. As per the director, the film is a historical war movie and will showcase Sunny as a powerful queen. It will have Telugu actor Navdeep playing the villain. Nasser will be essaying a pivotal character in the movie. The movie will go on floors in the first week of January and the shooting will be in Hyderabad, Kerala, and Chennai.
