10 proposals from Bollywood films that are legit goals

Bollywood has always played an integral part in shaping people’s thought process right from their childhood when it comes to the matters of the heart. Airports and the agony of separation, railway stations and the chase to get on a running train with a lover, rains, and coffee by the window, all these are scripts that were rehearsed to death but little does our heart know of that. As millennials, we are conditioned to idolise love stories that are larger than life and the one that adds drama to our storyline. Here are ten proposals that won hearts and might make yours skip a beat.
2/11

Rang De Basanti

One can simply not ignore the irresistible charm of R. Madhavan, who very beautifully puts forth the impending question, "Will you marry me?" in the most gentlemanly way possible. Sitting by the ruins of an old fort in Goa, the leads of 'Rang De Basanti' including Aamir Khan are seen soaking in the sun when Madhavan takes his chance of popping the question. Of course, Soha was bound to melt and celebrations followed!
3/11

Kal Ho Na Ho

Fans of Shah Rukh Khan can never forget the tear-jerking scene where the actor standing tall at a subway station reads a letter from Saif's diary putting up a show of how much Saif loves Naina essayed by Preity Zinta. However, the truth was that Aman read those lines not from the diary but straight from his heart for the love of his life Naina whom he could never have.
4/11

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na

In the most typical Bollywood fashion, the then debutant Imran Khan made his way to the airport to stop the love of his life played by Genelia D'Souza from leaving the city and moving on with her life. He makes a run for his life, police chasing, intense music playing in the background and here comes Genelia walking in all her glory for one of the most loved proposal scenes of the millennium.
5/11

Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani

This one is sure to make your hearts melt. An ambitious Bunny played by Ranbir Kapoor comes to celebrate the New Years with Naina and eventually says the three magical words. He comes to her house all prepared with a bottle of champagne, balloons, and take-out. He goes down on one knee and pops the question like a true blue blood. Aww right?
6/11

Aisha

Right before Aisha was going to pack her bags for the city of dreams Mumbai to help her sister with her newborn, here comes the charming lad Arjun played by Abhay Deol to convince her to stay. Of course, he had reasons because he fell head-over-heels in love with her and came to say just that to her in the most Rapunzel-fairytale-kind of way climbing the stairs to her balcony and saying the sweetest things ever to console her angered soul. Of course, she said yes!
7/11

Tamaasha

Fans of this film are fully aware of the emotional roller-coaster the script throws your way. However, there is an adorably sweet scene where all's fine in the paradise and Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) proposes Tara (Deepika) at an office party. What could have been one of the best plot points in the film turns out to be a spinner and the proposal ends badly with Tara refusing the ring. Then comes a whole new twist that makes this film way ahead of its time and makes Imtiaz Ali the master weaver of his craft.
8/11

Salaam Namaste

Let Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan tell you the most unconventional way of proposing your loved one - in a hospital room. Yes, the very same happened in 'Salaam Namaste' where a spoilt brat Nikhil learns his lesson the hard way and realizes his love for Ambar. He zooms into the hospital where Ambar's delivery was about to take place and proposes to her right before the delivery.
9/11

Dil Chahta Hai

One cannot mess with Aamir Khan aka Akash from 'Dil Chahta hai' when he's confessing his love for his girl Shalini essayed by Preity Zinta. The long monologue is not only moving but also reveals an aspect of Akash's character which was never seen before. The fun-loving and not-caring attitude of Aamir's character in the film finally comes to a halt when he stops Shalini's engagement party to propose to her. Quite an interesting way to bend the knee, don't you think?
10/11

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi

Freshly out of the Miss World phase, Priyanka Chopra was then taking baby steps to the journey of becoming a global phenomenon. 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' was a stepping stone in her career where she worked with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. After much hard work and humiliation throughout the film, Sameer (Salman) finally gets to propose Rani (PeeCee). His bittersweet journey to control his anger finally paves the way to him winning the heart of his beloved.
11/11

Jab We Met

The world fell head-over-heels in love with not only Kareena Kapoor Khan as the popular Geet but also Shahid Kapoor as the handsome hunk Aditya Kashyap. 'Jab We Met' has been one of the iconic films of Indian film industry and has been much-celebrated ever since its release. The proposal scene that comes towards the climax is one of the highlights as back then when the film was released both Sasha and Bebo parted ways as a couple in their real life, which makes the climax even more poignant. The tear-jerking scene received whistles and hoots every time the film was screened in the theatre.
