Zarine Khan's daughter Farah Khan Ali pens emotional note after her demise, 'Born a Parsi, Married as a Muslim and cremated according to Hindu rites'

Former actor Zarine Khan, wife of Sanjay Khan and mother of Sussanne Khan and Zayed Khan, passed away on November 7 at her Mumbai residence. She was 81 and had been battling age-related ailments.

Born Zarine Katrak in a Parsi family, she later married into a Muslim household. However, her son Zayed Khan performed her last rites as per Hindu rituals.

Farah Khan Ali’s emotional note

Her daughter Farah Khan Ali shared a moving tribute on Instagram, writing, “My mother Zarine Khan was a very special woman. Her philosophy of life was to ‘Forgive and Forget’. She was kind-hearted, loved by all her friends and family, and cared deeply for one and all. She was the bond that kept our family together. Born a Parsi, Married as a Muslim and cremated according to Hindu rites. She epitomised Humanity and is someone whose legacy we hope to live.”

Bollywood pays tribute

Several celebrities arrived to bid farewell. Hrithik Roshan attended the funeral with ex-wife Sussanne Khan and their son Hridaan, looking visibly heartbroken.

Kajol, Bobby Deol, Aly Goni, Jasmin Bhasin, and Niketan Dheer were also spotted paying their respects at the Juhu crematorium.

A heartbreaking farewell

Sanjay Khan and Zayed Khan led the final rites, while Sussanne was seen carrying her mother’s body with her sisters, unable to hold back tears.



Zarine Khan is survived by her husband Sanjay Khan, daughters Sussanne, Farah, Simone, and son Zayed Khan.
