Zareen Khan calls out paparazzi culture; pleads for respect for women celebs: "Look at my face, not my body”
Zareen Khan has taken a bold stand against what she calls the “objectifying gaze” of the paparazzi. In a candid chat, the actress expressed her discomfort over photographers zooming in on women’s bodies rather than capturing them respectfully.
She said to Hindi Rush, “I’m not saying all of them do it, but many paps zoom in on areas where there’s absolutely no need to.” Calling the practice “disgusting”, she urged the paparazzi to refocus on a celebrity’s identity and craft, rather than turning them into clickbait with invasive shots.
Recently, Zareen made headlines when she firmly confronted photographers who were taking photos of her as she walked into a building. Dressed in a lemon yellow chikankari kurta and jeans, she greeted the paparazzi but soon turned back and said, “Mujhe dekho, ye nahi (Look at me, not here),” pointing at her back.
Zareen questioned why photographers often post close-ups of “weird body parts” asking followers to “guess who”. This, she feels disrespects the individuality and work of celebrities.
