"Zamaana Beet Gaya”: Amitabh Bachchan remembers Shashi Kapoor - THROWBACK
Let's take a throwback look at when Amitabh Bachchan’s Instagram turned into a memory lane as he remembered Shashi Kapoor, his co-star and dear friend, with a montage of throwback pictures.
The two legends shared screen space in films that defined an era, from 'Deewar', 'Kabhi Kabhie' to 'Trishul' and 'Silsila'.
Captioning the post, Amitabh wrote, “Zamaana beet gaya, na jaane kitni filmein ki saath mein (Ages have passed, don’t know how many films we did together).” The candid shots capture moments of quiet camaraderie.
A Friendship Beyond the Camera
Their collaborations were not just about sharing screen space but about a friendship that quietly grew behind the scenes. Shashi Kapoor’s warm introductions and that unmistakable twinkle in his eyes left a mark on everyone he met, including Amitabh.
Recalling Shashi’s infectious humility, Amitabh once wrote, “When he spoke, there was a mischievous, gentle, almost inaudible yodel in his voice, most endearing.” The two complemented each other perfectly on screen.
Shashi Kapoor passed away in December 2017. His passing left behind a legacy that still feels alive through his films and memories shared by friends like Amitabh. After his passing, Amitabh shared on his blog how he found it difficult to see Shashi in the hospital, preferring to remember him in better times. “I would never have… I never ever wanted to see this beautiful friend and ‘samdhi’ in the state I saw him in hospital,” he wrote.
Work front
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan's previous successful outing was the Prabhas starrer 'Kalki:2898 AD' . He also teamed up with Rajinikanth for 'Vettaiyan'. Also, he is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi epic also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. Set in a dystopian future, the film promises a gripping mix of mythology and futuristic action, with Big B playing a key and mysterious role.
