You take the bow, darling!

Kiran Rao is following Aamir Khan’s lead as she gets ready to take centerstage for her forthcoming ambitious directorial debut Dhobhi Ghat. In this, she has also directed her actor-husband who plays a reclusive painter.
Aamir has made Kiran in charge of helming the affairs for Dhobhi Ghat and that starts with her meeting the press and includes showing the first look of the film.What’s interesting is that Aamir had pioneered this trend of sharing the first look and then having an informal interaction with the press before each film. Starting with his acclaimed debut as a filmmaker, Taare Zameen Par, he did this with every production of his including Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na, Ghajini, 3 Idiots and even Peepli Live.
But this time around, the acclaimed actor is happy to shadow Kiran. Aamir is also creating a record of sorts by not being there for the launch of the first look of his film. He reportedly announced this decision during a closed door meeting. And, hearing this, the entire marketing team including Kiran were taken aback.
A source present reveals, “Aamir wants everyone to know this is a Kiran Rao film. So, on November 17, when the first look is shown, Aamir will not even be at the theatre. There is a lot of curiosity about Dhobhi Ghat and Aamir wants Kiran to answer the media about it.
He is happy to sit back and watch Kiran enjoy her moment.” When contacted, Aamir confirmed the development to TOI saying, “Kiran would be launching the first theatrical all by herself. This is quintessentially her film.”
