It’s time to say goodbye to matte lipstick, as celebs and fashionistas experiment with the viral trend of the season – latex lips. International celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Gigi and
Bella Hadid have been sporting it, while closer home, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor,
Deepika Padukone,
Ileana D’Cruz and others have flaunted the look. Here’s all you need to know about latex lips.
WHAT ARE LATEX LIPS?It’s glossy and shiny lips that look like latex.
Liquid lipsticks in reds, pinks, corals, browns or burgundies work the best, though you can opt for others
YOUR GUIDE TO DOING LATEX LIPS Start with a lip scrub, followed by lip oil or balm as part of the prep
Follow this with a lip liner that matches the colour of your liquid lipstick, or one that’s a few shades darker to ensure your lips are well-defined
Use two-three coats of liquid lipstick, just the right amount to avoid looking messy, followed by gloss till your lips are ultra shiny
Finish with a setting spray
The bold colours with a gloss finish on top gives the look its name. Latex lips make your pout look fuller and eye-catching. You can pull off this look by using lip gloss on top of a cream lipstick or by applying a lip balm over your lipstick

If you’re doing latex lips, I recommend fluid fabrics without too much texture or busy prints. Go for solids, colour blocking and cleaner silhouettes. The idea is to wear clothes that don’t take the focus away from your lips, but complement them

The latex texture doesn’t lose its shine. Line your lips well so that they don’t bleed at the edges. Set the edges of the lip with translucent powder. I tried a fuchsia look on
Parineeti Chopra during a photoshoot and the result was lovely
