Veteran producer-director Yash Chopra has been awarded an honorary higher doctoral degree for his outstanding contribution to the field of cinema by the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Chopra, who is known to make romantic films like Silsila, Chandani, Lamhe, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara, said, “I am humbled by this honour and would like to thank SOAS for this recognition.
My films have come from the heart and I would like to pass on this same message to students all over the world.” Chopra has been previously conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by The Leeds Metropolitan University, UK, The Punjab University, Chandigarh, and The Guru Nanak University, Amritsar. The filmmaker now gets to add another feather to his already feathered cap.
