World Breastfeeding Week! Halsey, Neha Dhupia, Sameera Reddy: Stars who spoke about normalising breastfeeding

The ongoing Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7) aims to create awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding all around the world. Since celebrities can influence people thanks to their popularity, their participation makes a difference. Realising this, celeb moms--both from Hollywood and Bollywood--do their utmost to talk about the benefits of the process. From Halsey, Neha Dhupia to Dia Mirza--everyone has spoken up on why breastfeeding is the best. Check out what they had to say:

Halsey

Halsey and her baby Ender Ridley Aydin are celebrating World Breastfeeding Week. The 'Him & I' singer recently took to her social media handle to share a cute picture with her little munchkin. Halsey was breastfeeding while they were at a park. "#Worldbreastfeedingweek we arrived just in time!" Halsey captioned the post. In July, she also released a concept album about “the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth.”

Dia Mirza

In an interaction with a news portal, Dia Mirza spoke about the stigma around breastfeeding in public. She said that she feels that our society needs to become sensitive to the needs of a new mother. She highlighted the fact that in Belgium, breastfeeding in public is protected by law, but in our country, we need a systematic shift in societal attitude. According to her, feeding a child should be considered a natural act. She further added how it triggers so much shame and judgment when done in public.

Lisa Haydon

Lisa Haydon, too, had contributed to an online discussion about breastfeeding moms. Sharing a picture with her son Zack, the star wrote, ''Breastfeeding has played such a big part in getting back into shape after giving birth to my baby. It has been challenging and time-consuming (literally hours spent every day trying to stimulate milk supply) but it's such a beautiful way to bond and connect with your child plus all the nutritional benefits that your child gets from your milk."

Sameera Reddy

Sameera Reddy is extremely vocal when it comes to subjects like motherhood, mental health, body positivity, and self-love. During World Breastfeeding Week in 2019, the actress had talked about the stigma attached to breastfeeding on Instagram. Reddy wrote, ''A mother may be depressed, lacking in confidence, worried, or stressed and it affects breastfeeding. These factors do not directly affect her milk production but can interfere with the way in which she responds to her baby. This can result in the baby taking less milk, and failing to stimulate milk production. So be there for her".

Neha Dhupia

Mom-to-be Neha Dhupia is a mother to two-year-old Mehr. In an attempt to normalise breastfeeding, Neha had shared a throwback photo with her daughter. ''A mother has her choice of how and where she chooses to feed or breastfeed her child. However, time and time again we see people looking at breastfeeding mothers in a sexual manner," she wrote in her post, drawing attention to how normal it is to breastfeed and how it should not be looked upon as something it is not.

If you want to normalise breastfeeding then do so in public like malls. They don’t have the courage to do but can only take pics and post asking people to normalise breastfeeding. Idiots.
