Aryan Khan’s bail plea was rejected by a special NDPS court last week. His team of lawyers were quick to file an appeal against the order in Bombay High Court. The matter has been listed for today and Aryan Khan will be represented by Mukul Rohatgi. Here’s all you need to know about the top lawyer:

Mukul Rohatgi is former Attorney General of India (AGI). He landed in Mumbai late on Monday evening and will argue for Aryan Khan’s bail plea before the Bombay high court. He is the lead counsel along with Satish Maneshinde. Senior counsel Amit Desai, who had previously argued for Aryan Khan’s bail, will also be present at the hearing scheduled before Justice Nitin Sambre.

Mukul Rohatgi is former Attorney General of India (AGI). He was the 14th Attorney General of India. His three year term lasted from 2014 to 2017. He has also previously served as Additional Solicitor General of India.

Before taking on Aryan Khan’s case, Mukul Rohatgi has been associated with several other high profile legal cases. According to Economic Times, the senior advocate represented the Government of Gujarat in the 2002 Gujarat riots case. His father Awadh Behari Rohatgi, was a famous lawyer and also a judge in the Delhi High Court.

Aryan Khan and seven others were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on October 3. He is currently lodged at the Arthur Road jail. Aryan’s lawyers have argued that he was not in possession of any contraband. But the NCB opposed his bail on the grounds of alleged WhatsApp chats that indicate an international drugs racket.
