Director Shree Narayan Singh, who earlier helmed 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha', is all set for his next release 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu.' The film, starring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, is a social drama that revolves around faulty electricity meters and inappropriate bills. A large part of the film was shot in the small city of Tehri in Uttarakhand. For a particular scene in the film, the team had created a bustling mela with a merry-go-round and other amusement rides, food and game stalls at the Town Square.

Since the locals were unaware that it was a set-up for a film shoot, they sauntered into the mela thinking it was for them and enjoyed the rides and stalls. Over 2,000 men, women and children roamed around, enjoying the rides and delicacies.
As Shahid and Shraddha shot for their scene, the director decided that it was best to have locals around them instead of junior artistes. To add to the authenticity of the film, the duo even handpicked their clothes and accessories from the local markets of Tehri. Also featuring Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma in pivotal roles, 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nitin Chandrachud and Nishant Pitti. The film is slated to release on September 21.
