When Shah Rukh Khan’s advice pushed Rajkummar Rao to buy a Rs 44 crore dream home

When Rajkummar Rao was still carving his niche in Bollywood, he once had a conversation with Shah Rukh Khan that would later shape one of his biggest financial decisions.

In an early interview with Mashable, the Stree actor recalled how SRK’s words stayed with him and ultimately influenced his decision to buy a ₹44 crore luxury home in Mumbai, previously owned by Janhvi Kapoor.

During an interaction, Shah Rukh Khan advised him, “Beta, kabhi bhi ghar lena ho, toh aukaat se thoda zyada lena. Kyunki phir na, upar wala bhi dekhta hai aur tu khud bhi zyada mehnat karega.” (Son, whenever you buy a house, buy one slightly beyond your means. That way, God will look after you, and you will push yourself to work harder.)

Rajkumar Rao took the advice seriously, believing that such a move would challenge him to achieve greater heights in his career. In 2022, he made the bold decision to purchase a sprawling 3,456-square-foot property in Mumbai, marking a significant milestone in his journey from struggling actor to a top performer in Bollywood.

The actor described SRK’s advice as “fascinating” and a key motivation behind his choice to invest in the house. Known for his dedication and versatility, Rao continues to make remarkable choices, not just in real estate but also in cinema.

On the work front, Rajkummar Rao was last seen in 'Stree 2' which received good reviews and turned out to be a blockbuster.
