Rashmika Mandanna earlier addressed the controversy surrounding the song Peelings from the blockbuster ‘Pushpa 2’, starring Allu Arjun. The song had sparked criticism for its choreography, with several social media users expressing discomfort with the dance moves.
Reflecting on the experience, Rashmika admitted that she was initially ‘uncomfortable’ performing certain sequences, particularly the ones involving her being lifted repeatedly.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, Rashmika shared the challenges she faced while filming the song, which was completed in just five days, right before its release. “When I saw the rehearsal video, I was surprised. I thought, ‘What in the world is going on?’ Majority of the time, I felt like I was just dancing on Allu Arjun sir,” she revealed. The song’s choreography was intense and unconventional, requiring Rashmika to step out of her comfort zone.
Rashmika admitted that she had a phobia of being lifted, which made performing the song even more challenging. “I wasn’t very comfortable with people lifting me, and here is the song where I am only being lifted. I had this thing of ‘how am I going to do this?’” she explained. Despite her initial apprehension, Rashmika decided to approach the situation as a challenge.
The actress credited her trust in director Sukumar and co-star Allu Arjun for helping her overcome her fears. “I realised that if I make up my mind, I fully surrender to my director and co-actor. I told myself, ‘If this is what the film needs, let’s do it.’ Once you trust the team, it becomes fun,” Rashmika said, adding that the process eventually turned into a memorable experience.
The song Peelings gained attention for its unique choreography and became a talking point among fans and critics alike.
