When Ranbir Kapoor calmed down Boney Kapoor after giving multiple retakes
In an industry where shooting schedules often stretch beyond comfort and where fatigue, heat and chaos can alter the energy on set, Boney Kapoor has offered a rare inside account of the kind of professionalism Ranbir Kapoor brought to the making of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Speaking about their time working together, Kapoor highlighted not glamour or star posturing, but something far more grounded: endurance, patience and an unwavering commitment to the director’s vision.
Kapoor during his conversation with trade expert Komal Nahata, began by noting how he never witnessed Ranbir losing his cool during physically demanding shooting days. As he recalled: “Ranbir is one actor, I never saw him cribbing on the set, we have shot for 16 hours at a stretch. We were shooting in Delhi in the summer, it was then switched to night time so that the weather is cooler and he didn't crib even once".
One particular moment stands out in Kapoor’s memory — a sequence that demanded dozens of takes. He recalled: “In one take, I remember, there were 52 retakes. And he gave full respect to the crew. These retakes were for different reasons.”
“In fact, when there were 13-14 retakes in one of my shots, I got a bit ( frustrated). So he came to me and said, I gave 52 retakes. Don't get... Till the time the director is not satisfied, you've got to give it all.”
Ranbir Kapoor has multiple films line dup this year from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal to Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan ;Part 1 with Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Yash.
