Turned away

Aishwarya Rai was initially considered for the role of Zaara in Veer-Zaara. She declined the opportunity, and the part went to Preity Zinta. The film became a landmark in Bollywood, with Preity’s portrayal of Zaara receiving wide acclaim. Aishwarya’s decision remains one of her most notable rejections.

Turned down

Kangana Ranaut rejected The Dirty Picture, feeling that its boldness did not align with her choices at the time. Vidya Balan eventually accepted the role and won a National Award. The film became a milestone, proving how a single decision can alter the trajectory of multiple acting careers.

Declined offer

Rani Mukerji turned down the lead in Lagaan opposite Aamir Khan because of scheduling conflicts and other commitments. The role went to Gracy Singh, and the film achieved international recognition, even earning an Oscar nomination. Although she refused it, Rani’s career flourished with other notable projects during the same period.

Changed path

Twinkle Khanna declined the role of Tina in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai after hearing the narration. The part later became Rani Mukerji’s breakthrough, winning her awards and fan admiration. Twinkle eventually moved away from acting altogether, focusing on writing and entrepreneurship, where she carved out a completely new identity.
