She had firmly said that she will continue to sing till her last breath.
In an interaction with Indian Express, Lata Mangeshkar had said that she will continue to sing till her last breath and music is the essence of her existence. She further added that the Mangeshkar family is devoted to music. If you take music away from their lives and they are nothing.

"Lata di died at 8.12 am due to multiple organ failure after over 28 days of COVID-19 diagnosis," said Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating the singer at the Breach Candy hospital. Her mortal remains were first taken to her Pedder Road residence Prabhu Kunj and later to Shivaji Park for her multitude of fans to pay their respect before the funeral at Shivaji Park around 6.30 pm.
Considered one of the greatest playback singers in Indian cinema, Mangeshkar received several film awards and honours like Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and multiple National Film Awards.
