When Kunal Kemmu opened up about fights with Soha Ali Khan, parenthood changed their lives

When Kunal Kemmu and Soha Ali Khan first met on the sets of Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge in 2009, neither expected to connect. Kunal, a former child artist, and Soha, an Oxford graduate with royal lineage, were worlds apart.


“My first impression was that here is this Oxford graduate and I don’t know why she is acting in films,” Kunal had revealed in a past interview with Hindustan Times. While Soha was busy writing an article for Oxford University, Kunal found himself drawn into conversations filled with healthy debates. Slowly, their professional respect turned into friendship. Eventually, love blossomed.



Fights that made love stronger




During a 2020 appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, Kunal shared that whenever they fought, Soha would often throw heavy English words at him, leaving him puzzled.


Kunal admitted, “I would google the words later because I couldn’t understand them at the moment.” Their differences, instead of creating distance, became a fun and unique way to learn from each other and grow closer.


Parenthood brought a new perspective




The arrival of their daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, on September 29, 2017, brought a major shift in their lives. Kunal shared that parenthood transformed them. This helped in adding maturity and stability to their relationship. “Earlier, we would spend the whole day watching television, but now things are different,” he said. Soha opened up on how they learned to accept each other fully: “There was a time when I would try to change Kunal and wanted him to behave the way I expected. But over time, we’ve learned to co-exist without trying to change each other.”
