Karisma Kapoor was the first woman from the Kapoor family to have joined movies. People also still assume that actresses like Babita and Neetu Kapoor were not allowed to do films any longer after they married the Kapoor boys - Randhir and Rishi Kapoor. When Karsima joined movies, the actress had opened up on her decision to join movies in an old interview during her debut film 'Prem Qaidi'.
Karisma had debunked this myth about the Kapoor women and said, "I don’t know why everyone is under that illusion. It was their own choice. After all, my whole family is filled with actors, and my father and my uncle married heroines.”
She further clarified that there are no restrictions, further stating that her father Randhir actually pushed her to act. She said, "My father encourages me to act, and he always tells me, ‘Don’t let the Kapoor name down.’ He is the one who is very much behind me, and I take his advice. We all sit together and talk about work. I just want everyone to get this out of their mind."
The actress had spoken about not letting her grand father, the legendary Raj Kapoor down as she took his legacy forward. She had said, “I will never let my grandfather down, because I know he is up there and he is guiding me and looking over me. Even when I was a kid, he knew I was going to be an actor and told me, ‘Lolo, I know you want to become an actor, but if you do become one, be the best or don’t do it at all.'”
