Jackie Shroff and Tabu were once at the center of a significant controversy in the early 1990s. The incident came to light when Tabu's elder sister, Farah Naaz, accused Jackie Shroff of behaving inappropriately towards Tabu. Allegedly, Jackie made unwelcome advances towards the actress at Danny Denzongpa's house during a party.
Tabu has collaborated with nearly all the big stars in the film industry except Jackie Shroff. This exception is due to a past controversy that once dominated the headlines, involving allegations that a young Tabu was molested by Shroff.
In 1986, while Jackie Shroff was working on the film Diljalaa with Farah Naaz, Tabu's elder sister, this incident occurred. The film also starred Tanuja and Danny Denzongpa. As reported by Orissa Post, the crew was shooting in Mauritius, and Tabu, a teenager at the time, accompanied her sister to the shoot. During this period, Danny hosted a party and invited everyone from the film’s crew.
At the party, Jackie Shroff, reportedly drunk, tried to forcefully kiss Tabu. Despite her resistance, he continued, but Danny Denzongpa stepped in and pulled Jackie away from her.
Even though Danny managed the situation that night, Tabu’s sister and actress, Farah Naaz, caused a scene the next morning. She went to the media and accused Jackie of being drunk at the party and trying to assault her sister, Tabu.
Throughout the controversy, Tabu remained silent and didn't speak up. Despite the blame game, Farah eventually settled the matter, describing it as a misunderstanding. However, Tabu has never acted alongside Jackie Shroff since then.
Tabu, originally named Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, started her acting journey with an uncredited role at the age of 11 in the film 'Bazaar'. She later portrayed Dev Anand’s daughter in 'Hum Naujawan' at 14. Tabu gained prominence with the 1994 film 'Vijaypath'.
