Veteran actor Dharmendra gained popularity in the mid-1960s for films such as 'Ayee Milan Ki Bela', 'Kaajal', 'Phool Aur Patthar' among others. The Bollywood actor once candidly shared his thoughts on his career and fame. He had expressed his views on working in Hollywood versus staying in India.

In a 2017 conversation with Hindustan Times, Dharmendra said that everyone tries to make it big in the West, but it has never looked worth it to him. He emphasized the importance of being recognized and loved by people in his homeland. 'When you are in India, you are the most loved person,' the actor mentioned.

The legendary actor further elaborated on the unique bond between an artist and their audience in India. He does not believe the same love will be there if he is in any other place. He highlighted how fame can sometimes lead to a sense of disconnect and suggested that true success lies in staying grounded within one's own country and among familiar faces.

On the work front, Dharmendra was last seen in Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya'. He will be next seen in Sriram Raghavan’s 'Ikkis', which features Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda in a key role.
