When Bollywood doubted Tom Cruise - Anil Kapoor recalls industry's remarks on 'Mission Impossible': 'I told them that you will find out'
Anil Kapoor has always admired Tom Cruise, but he remembers a time when many in Bollywood didn’t share the same emotion. The actor, who starred alongside Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol' (2011), revealed that when he first signed on to the project, colleagues dismissed the Hollywood star, saying, “Tom Cruise mein woh baat nahi rahi” (he isn’t that great anymore). Anil recalled these moments in an early interview, pointing out how drastically opinions have shifted since then.
Sharing his thoughts with Film Companion, Anil said he always looked forward to Tom’s films, especially for the groundbreaking action sequences. “These are the people I really look up to. I was very fortunate when I did Ghost Protocol. Back then, my colleagues were skeptical, but I told them, ‘Pata chalega aapko (you’ll find out).’ Now, after Top Gun: Maverick, everybody is a fan,” Anil smiled.
Anil’s journey, from playing Brij Nath in Ghost Protocol to starring in both the American and Indian versions of 24, proves his openness to global collaborations.
Most recently, Anil was seen in the action flick 'War 2' starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in the lead. The movie mostly received mixed reviews. The actor will be next seen in the most-awaited 'Animal Park'.

Encouraging Global Work
In the same conversation, Anil revealed that he has long urged his Bollywood peers to take up international projects. “I told them, ‘International kaam bhi karo (try international work),’ but they said, ‘Nahi hum India mein theek hai (we are fine here).’ Later, I realised everyone secretly went to Los Angeles, Netflix and Amazon,” he laughed.end of article
