Arijit Singh has completed 10 years as a Bollywood playback singer. At this moment an old video of his has come back into focus. The video shows a teenage Arijit singing “Mitwa” from 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.' He is sitting on his terrace. He has long hair. He is holding a guitar. He looks very different from the Arijit Singh we see today.

The only thing that feels the same is his voice. Even then, his singing sounds deep and full of emotion. The video is believed to be at least 15 years old. It reminds people that every big artist once started small.

Even then, the spark was there

In the video, Arijit’s voice sounds clear and strong. He sings with control and feeling. Even though he was very young, the talent was already there. Over the years his singing only became better. But this video shows that the spark existed from the beginning.

Support from Pritam changed everything

When Arijit entered Bollywood, he got strong support from music director Pritam. That support changed his life. In the same year as his Bollywood debut, Arijit worked with Pritam on four films.

Some of the songs from that time became huge hits. These include “Raabta,” “Yaariyan,” and “Phir Le Aya Dil” from Agent Vinod, Cocktail, and Barfi.

Why Arijit decided to step away

Recently, Arijit Singh shocked fans by announcing that he is retiring from playback singing. Screenshots of a post, said to be from his private X account, started going viral. In that post, Arijit explained his decision in his own words.

“There is not one reason behind this; there are several reasons, plus I have been trying to do this for a long time. Finally I have gathered the right courage. One of the reasons was simple: I get bored pretty quick. That's why I keep changing arrangements of the same songs and performing them on stage. So here is the thing: I got bored,” he wrote.

Later, Arijit also shared a heartfelt note on Instagram. Thanking his listeners, he said,

“Hello, happy new year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
