Alia Bhatt is currently garnering acclaim for her role in Vasan Bala’s 'Jigra', showcasing her evolution as an actress since her debut in 'Student of the Year'. One of her pivotal performances came early in her career with 'Highway', where she demonstrated her acting prowess. During the promotional events for the film, Alia expressed a strong desire for her father, Mahesh Bhatt, to create a film that would secure her a national award.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Alia stated, “After Aashiqui 2, I called up Mohit Suri and said that it’s high time that you make a film for me. I tell my father all the time, ‘You have to give me a National Award-winning film, come on, make that film for me.'” This candid admission highlights Alia's ambition and the high expectations she has set for herself within the industry. Despite their collaboration in 'Sadak 2', which did not perform well at the box office, Alia's talent was recognized with her National Award win for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'.

Meanwhile, Alia and Vedang Raina's film 'Jigra' has finally hit theaters, receiving a blend of reactions from both audiences and critics. On its opening day, 'Jigra' earned ₹4.25 crore at the domestic box office, selling approximately 18,000 tickets across the top three national chains. The film was released in around 2,200 to 2,500 on its first day.

‘Jigra’ is facing tough competition from Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' which has made a business of around Rs 5 crore on day 1.
