among others, says, “My parents have always been a huge part of my life. No matter where I go and what I do, there’s never a time when I am not in touch with them. But the pandemic somehow drew me to analyse and understand that one has extended family and we need to go beyond the token chats with them. With time, we had all drifted away and we’d only connect on occasions. In the last 20 months, that has changed. We’ve gone way ahead of the token phone calls and video chats we used to have. I make it a point to connect with my uncles, aunts, and cousins. I started this personal journey of appreciation where I especially reach out to my elders and tell them what they mean to me and the difference their presence has made to my life. It only adds to the happiness because we’re reminded of the happy times we have seen together. They enhance my emotional quotient. In these dark and tough times, staying in touch with my elders has kept me emotionally together.”end of article
